@George,
As soon as he's declared "out for season" he will become droppable.

@fbaezer,
By the way, Fbaezer, the A2K NFL "Pick-Um" game is back for our 6th season. Are you likely to be in again this season? Slot #17 is open, next to Imur from Ireland.

Gee, he's almost as tall as Dad already.

I believe the kid is shaving already, too.

I fear he's less than a month old and already developing bad habits:

@fbaezer,
Arrgh! If I get blown out by Jespah this week (I am now down 2-13), I will join in the race for the 8th playoff slot. My guys are not doing at all well.

Odd. My SP (Happ-Philly) was happily going along until he gave up a 2-run homer in the 8th. He took the loss (2-3 vs Pittsburgh) but was left in, giving him and me a CG as he pitched through the 9th.

@realjohnboy,
I'm 2-13 too, due to that dastardly team of mine - when the cat's away, the dogs will play poorly. At least I've managed to bench Soriano. Ooof!

From time to time I share a gleaning from my daily email on one of the political threads.

So I thought I would also indulge and treat my baseball friends with a gleaning from my email today.

A LITTLE KNOWN BASEBALL FACT:

The first testicular guard (Cup) was used in baseball in 1874.

The first helmet was used in 1934.

Conclusion: It took 60 years for men to realize that the brain is also important.

(Sorry guys. I just couldn't resist. My bad.)

It is pretty much all over at the top. Fbaezer will wrap up the regular season championship this week with just one match-up left. The next 5 players will move around a bit, but nothing serious.
#1 Fbaezer will win by a decent margin and will end the week at .575;
#2 George will tie Fox this week and will slip to 3rd with .558;
#3 Gargamel will have a good week and will claim 2nd at .561;
#4 Tico will stay in 4th with .543;
#5 McGentrix will suffer through a bad week and slip to 6th with .528;
#6 Pantalones will snag 5th at .533;
#7 Johnboy will narrowly lose his match and will hang on to 7th at .494.
The battle for the final play-off position will tighten, with the players in 8th through 11th being separated by a mere .006 vs .019 last week.
#8 Osso will lose 6-10 but will keep 8th at .482;
#9 Jespah will be right behind at .481;
#10 JPinMilw will be right behind at .479;
#11 Alex will be right behind at .478.
How exciting is that? A 1 or 2 point switch in the match-up results could move things around.
Fox and Elstud can, alas, probably fold their tents.
#12 ElStud will gallantly yield to Fox and slip to 13th with .459;
#13 Fox will claim 12th with .461;
#14 Mysteryman will end at .370.

Oh, this is SO exciting! With only 3 days left in the final match-up before the playoffs, 4 of us are vying for the 7th and 8th slots.
#7 Johnboy is playing George pretty much even, leading 8-7-4. If that were the way it were to end I would finish at .493. I don't necessarily need to win but I must keep it close.
#8 Jespah is fairing slightly better (9-7-3) against Fbaezer. If she doesn't improve she would be at .487 for the regular season.
#9 Osso is stumbling at this point (6-10-3) versus Pantalones. She could sink to .474.
#10 Alex is lurking in the inky shadows, winning against McGentrix 9-6-4.
He - at that rate - would end at .484; a meer .003 behind Jespah.

When this Sunday ends we will know the line-up for the championship play-offs. 6 of us will be at the children's table, otherwise known as the consolation bracket play-offs.
#1 Fbaezer deserves a lot of praise for winning the regular season. He rarely stumbled and will finish strongly this week, ending at .578;
#2 Gargamel will have to settle for 2nd place at .565;
#3 George will tie his match this week and will finish in 3rd at ,557;
#4 Tico wins big this week but will stay in 4th at .549;
#5 McGentrix will lose big to Alex and will slip to 6th at .526;
#6 Pantalones will take advantage to climb to 5th with .545.
It was great that Tico was willing to change the rules so late such that the play-offs included the top 8 teams. The battle for those last two slots has been intense these last couple or 3 weeks.
#7 Johnboy will salvage a tie for the week and will barely hold 7th at .492;
#8 Jespah will not do well and will fall to 10th at .478. Sorry about that.
#9 Osso will just finish out of the money, sticking at 9th with .481. Sorry.
#10 Alex will impressively storm forward, claiming 8th at .487. Well done!
#11 JPinMilw stays in 11th at .477;
#12 Fox will end in 12th at .457;
#13 ElStud will finish at .446, leaving him in 13th;
#14 Mysteryman will end the season at .371. Wait 'til next year!

There is still plenty of baseball left, of course.
But the A2K NFL Pickum game is off and running. Just 4 days left until the 1st game. I am looking for picks from Fbaezer, Gargamel, Pantalones, Alex and JPinMilw.
