Good morning. Fox didn't do her update after last week's matchups, perhaps because there was only one shift in the standings. This week, according to my calculations, 12 of us will move up or down

#1 Tubas will suffer through a tough week and slip to 2nd at .577;
#2 Prima will salvage a tie for the week and ends back in 1st at .579;
#3 Ipswich stumbles to 5th with .542;
#4 Gushies claim 3rd by a skinny margin: .546;
#5 Tico will be right behind at .544, good for 4th;
#6 Skoal sticks in 6th at .515;
#7 Hoot ends in a tie this week, sending her to 8th at .496;
#8 Puppies will claw their way to 7th with .498;
#9 Necks will lose, again, and slump to 10th at .469;
#10 Herons crash badly, dropping to 12th with .450;
#11 Paws have a good week and climb to 9th at .478;
#12 Corn will endure a bad week and drop to 13th with .439;
#13 Gerbils pops up to 11th with .465;
#14 Firefighters remain in last, slipping to .399.
I suspect I will perhaps get about half of these prognostications correct

Notice that Johnboy's crystal ball was 12/14 in Week 11 - and the margin so close in the two he missed that it was an impressive week.

This week not so good. But since he predicted that it wouldn't be a good week for predictions, does that count as good?

We have an identical W-L-T record.

But I dare not gloat after the asskicking I took last week.

The top six are close enough that there is little margin for error for anybody to hang onto his ranking. Ditto for the bottom eight all of whom are within striking distance of the top six.

Makes it fun.

Fun, indeed. It makes my stupid predicting thing difficult because just a point or two change in the outcome of a matchup can send one of us up or down a notch or two.
So I am playing #1 Fbaezer this week. He is one of the few if only A2Ker's I despise. A few years ago he made some scurrilous remarks about folks who live in the remote mountain hollows of Virginia; about how marrying our cousins or nieces or uncles is somehow bad.
Take a look at his opening salvo today in which he hopes I hang my dog. Where is this guy coming from, for god's sake? Did he suggest anything similar to the Hoot Owls or the Bay Herons or the Boston Skinny Pups or the Geriatric Gerbils or the Ipswich Stable Hands. Hang those animals? No. Instead, he goes after my dog, who isn't even playing here. Fbaezer is evil. Evil. I am outraged.

Dogs in the New Mexican desert and in cosmopolite Boston are good natured, kind, fun to play with, and even cute.
Horses in Ipwisch are smarter than Mr. Ed. They know Latin.
Owls, gerbils and herons are endangered species.

I am a civilized person and do not call for hanging bad rappin' rednecks, even if they are forgetful and don't remember how much I cheered for them during last year's playoffs.
Now, the rabid, stinkin', flea-ridden hound you keep lashed with a rope to your mobile home is not good natured, nor kind or cute. It is totally illiterate and uncivilized. You sent him across the border to bite me nekkid. All I did was to ask you kindly to tighten the rope around his neck to prevent an attack... and you come with this.

YOU SHALL PAY FOR THIS IN THE MATCHUP!

Not fair!!! Foul! Foul I say! The Rednecks and The ForerniaM at least have experience and metaphors to trash talk. What do I do with a Gushie? What IS a Gushie? I'm playing one of the leagues strongest opponents and I have to be nice by default due to lack of imagery?

A word of explanation. In the classic sci-fi show Quantum Leap, Gushie was the name of the behind the scenes engineer. He was seen in only a few episodes, played by the late comedian Dennis Wolfberg.

Pantalones studied something related to computer engineering, I believe.

Uh oh, I just rooted for Fb in a short conversation re the Paws and the Tubas in the matchup. Well, it's complicato. I root, natch, for the Paws. But I also like Fb's band better than the Tubas band.

Pantalones (lushie and then gushie - what was his team name last year?) is great. He used to be JoeFX, long time a2ker if not posting all that often. I vicariously enjoyed it when he studied in Bergamo (was it Bergamo?) and sent us missives on it. Smart about baseball, didn't win the whole fantasy baseball match in the time I've been playing, but has potential. Of course, when I picked Bannister last year, he told me how he thought he was good, and then Bannister devolved.

I hope I wasn't indiscreet. I tried to edit that to 'posted under another name' but was too late. I don't remember anything embarrassing about his earlier posts.

I do have my degree in Computer Science but that's not where the name came from.

The (not interesting) story about my team's name.

I chose the Lushies because of my lack of imagination. I took it from my band's name Lisa the Lush. As lushing was proving to be a bad activity for my team (two losses in first two weeks) I decided that restructuring their identity completely would unbalance the team chemistry so I just changed a letter and chose a name that would fit better with the yellow smiley face that is my team's logo.

Oh lordy. Now I have to trash talk a smiley face?
