@Foxfyre,
10 of the 19 categories involve how your pitchers do, cumulatively, for the week. IP is Innings Pitched. If your guys rack up more IP, you get a point. W stands for wins. More W's for your guys = a point for you.
Tico made reference to George's strategy in the past re SP. He would add a SP to his roster who would be starting on Monday, and then drop him for a SP who would be starting on Tuesday. He would definitely get points for IP and K (strikeouts) But he would probably lose BB (walks allowed). He might, through sheer numbers of IP get W's. It is a strategy that is not unique to George. I have seen mention made of it by the Yahoo columnists. Whether it is effective is moot.
You may know that CG stands for Complete Game and SO stands for Shutout. It would be heresy to propose this but I do wish CG and SO (or is it SHO) would be replaced with some other categories. The reason is that SP throw the ball so hard and so fast that they are only good for about 100-115 pitches per game. That takes them into about the 6th or 7th inning. Then they typically start to fade. In addition, as Tico noted a season or two back, teams have RP who earn big salaries to close out games. A manager has to keep them happy. We will each be lucky to pile up more than 3 CG's this season and perhaps 1 SO.
