Whatever. But she sure claims all you guys' attention doesn't she? I bet Al Franken or Randi Rhoads, who are just as provocative and in just as bad taste and just as uncomplimentary about their targets, would kill to get the ratings and market share and book sales that Coulter enjoys. Do you guys object to them or put them down like you do Coulter?

Though Coulter crosses the line into bad taste at times and this newspaper or that television network drops her, for awhile, each incident sends people scrambling to read what she has said. Her colum still well syndicated across the land, she is still a often invited guest on talk shows, and she is an often invited public speaker. And when one of her more outrageous remarks is taken out of context and made into something that it was not, she may clarify her intent for those who truly misunderstood, but she is always unapologetic and won't back down when she believes she is right. Of course that is also irritating to those who can't stand a strong woman who is confident in her point of view.

Again, despite a protestation or two, I am guessing that if Coulter was lampooning conservatives, she would be your hero and you would be defending her rather than making her an object of scorn. I bet those on the left would love to have somebody with the success and name recognition that she enjoys.

But every time the more righteous and sanctimonious lift her up as an object of scorn, she is laughing all the way to the bank.

@Foxfyre,
Oh, and every single one of her books has made the NY Times best seller list and has stayed there for quite awhile however unimportant or unimpressive you guys might think that is. Smile

I think it was BPB who labeled her a **** in another thread awhile back, which is correct. However, I fully defend her right to say what she wants, and the fact that she has done so well for herself with her message and tone (and physical attractiveness) can not be dismissed out of hand. Her success says a lot about who we are.

I agree with you completely.

But, you do understand with whose money she is laughing to bank, right?

She has a good little business taking money from the true believers. I find it amusing that she isn't really doing them any good since she is further marginalizing the very people who she is exploiting.

The best part is that I can mock her (and her cloying fans) for free.

Do the remaindered ones count for best-seller lists?

That would explain a lot of things.

@ebrown p,
And so far I haven't paid a dime to enjoy Ann Coulter's better or worse moments either. I even attended one of her speeches here in Albuquerque a few years ago, but I was given the ticket by a friend who couldn't go. She was brilliant, funny, informative, and the audience--the auditorium was packed--enjoyed her enormously. But I've never bought one of her books or otherwise invested any personal cash in Ann Coulter.

So who does? People who realize what a truly marketable product she is and are willing to invest in her because she makes them big money. It's something the leftwing pundits have not been nearly to successful at. A pity isn't it?

@Foxfyre,
This raises an interesting (yet completely unimportant) question: Who do you think has made more money; Ann Coulter or Michael Moore?

Personally... I don't care much about who is earning more money. My interest is in who is persuading middle America on important policy issues.

What matters is making sure that good people with the right positions on important issues win elections.

This is why Ann Coulter doesn't bother me one bit.

Let's revise that--"The Daily Kos" and Keith Olberman do the country a great service. By pushing "liberalism( and we do know what that means now--the Stock Market is in the tank),they are marginalizing the left-wing movement. The result is that the rest of us can wait until the election of 2010 so we can move the politics of the country back to sanity>

Good luck with that. LOL.

(DailyKos and Olbermann haven't hurt liberals much in the past couple elections-- at least I am not feeling marginalized.)

@ebrown p,
You may not feel marginalized but just one month, Obama's job approval rating is plummeting. I can tell you one thing for certain. My Senator in Illinois, the esteemed perjurer, Roland Burris may not be a Senator for long and the public in Illinois, who has had it with the impeached DEMOCRAT Blagojevich, will not elect another Democrat to that seat in 2010.

Note--plummeting Job Approval ratings for Obama. And just wait until the public gets its 401K reports after the first quarter.

Date -Rasmussen--Note that the TOTAL APPROVE HAS GONE DOWN TO 57%..It was at 67% when Obama was inaugurated. My My--a ten % drop in just a little over a month!!!!!

Coulter reminds me of the acerbic H.L.Mencken.

Here's what the great Mencken had to say about Presidential Elections in the USA.

The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre " the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.
"The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." (Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920) .

Mencken should be alive now!!!!!

@ebrown p,
ebp - I think you've stated it best in regards to Coulter. She's exciting because she's edgy, but ultimately just an court jester. Fox and others think that liberals interest in her stems from sort of insecurity or that she's making points that make them uncomfortable. I just don't think this is the case.

If she wants to make a pretty buck on the most extreme right conservatives, she's welcome to it. She can use the money to buy a marble elephant tombstone. She may be the one of the four horsemen of the republican apocalypse... or she could be one of the horses.

You don't really have to read very far in to Ann's stuff to comprehend why libtards don't like her; her descriptions of them are too accurate:

http://anncoulter.com/cgi-local/article.cgi?article=291

Quote:

Again, as I noted in "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)," Cleland voted against the establishment of a Homeland Security Department ... because it didn't allow for unionization of the work force:

OH MY GOD! THERE'S A PLANE HEADED FOR THE WHITE HOUSE!

Sorry, I'm on my break. Please call back in two hours.
