I believe in intelligent life, the only problem aliens getting here is requiring faster than light travel. considering that the universe is billions of lightyears across , most likely bigger, traveling the speed of light at least would require years to get here depending where they come from. thats alot of time resources and energy, food to eat assuming they do, they'd need a hell alot of it. energy to make them travel for years, maybe some sort of perpetual motion machine. but there is also the possibility of living closer to us than we think. for the sake of argument lets say UFO stories are true, and more than a few alien saucers have landed here. they aren't very big and couldnt have carried that much supplies, so either their incredibly quick and can travel many lightyears in a few days or so, or have a base thats not to far from us in galactic terms. people might disagree saying we would pick up on something, readings from any machines they might have. Although, its possible they have stealth technology. enemies cant pick up stealth fighters on their radar for example, so even we have stealth capabilities. there is many scenarios, fact of the matter is if anything has the ability to travel to us from where they are, more likely their technology is greater than ours so they probably dont fear us, might be just checkin us out. but would be pointless to try to contact us because even if some of us were willing to chat them up, i dont think foreign countries would be so willing. i think people forget we have crazy radicals in control of major missiles that can take out cities, not to mention a small space craft. anyway to some up, universe is huge, i believe there is other life, i believe they have visited, i dont think it will be the last.

It could be nearly 100%, we just don't know. It's entirely possible that the vast majority of space faring species attempt to eliminate their competition the instant they locate them. They might justify it as necessary for their own survival, and they might be right.

Unlikely, since everyone they find will be either far behind them and no competition or far ahead and impossible to compete with.
