@Ragman,
Haven't you had more comebacks than Rage against Machine Raggers. I'm pleased to see you, you old dog.

@Ragman,
Eek no one's getting the What's My Line? reference.

Or am I just that damn old?

@jespah,
I remember not liking either Cerf or Carlisle. But then, I might have been nine or ten. I suppose I should check out old stuff.

I didn't much like Kilgallen either. What a critic.

Didn't Steve Allen host that at some point or am I fuzzing out?

These days, you see women on construction sites everywhere and I think it's awesome. It's about time.

I think it a backward step from lying nonchalantly across a chaise lounge in a diaphonous gown smoking a Turkish cigarette through a long ivory holder.

Still- I'm a male chauvinist pig. Everybody knows that. I don't do feminism.

@Fountofwisdom,
In the states female cab drivers were common as well. Not as many as the men, but there were enough of us and you're right when saying that a lot of women feel more comfortable with a woman cab driver. I've had women get in my cab who were very relieved to see a woman behind the wheel.
Had one woman once who was disappointed to see me, but I found out later that this woman was a regular customer for the male drivers and apparently they were not paid in cash Laughing

The men who worked for us in the contruction business are the ones who have to live with themselves, so even though I was bitter for quite some time, but I got over it. I went through a lot over in the states, which is why I came here for a fresh start. Still don't know where my life is headed, but I still have plans and goals to reach. They may not work, but I'll never know unless I try them out.

You're right about my ex employees and their attempt to try and intimidate me, but I was tough girl back then who wasn't afraid of anything. I stood up like a raging bull and told them to get the **** out of my house.
Can you imagine the nerve of 2 grown men in their 40s doing this to a young 21 year old woman who just lost her father? I was totally beside myself and carried that anger for too long. Since I saw one of them often at our local donut shop, the anger continued until I left the country and no longer had to look at him. Unfortunately, I held onto that anger for years.

I went through a lot in my life, but I think all the painful experiences have made me a stronger and wiser person.
I think the biggest lesson I've learned so far is being very careful where I put my trust.

Why do so many posters keep expressing guilt feelings about returning here?

@Fountofwisdom,
Actually my previous post that was a reply to Frank. However, this is a reply to you.

BTW, I'm taking the time here to properly welcome (or re-welcome) you to A2K. While, I disagree with many statements you have made (particularly the one about the reason for invention of some sports being an excuse for men to touch one another), I will admit the thread overall has not been boring. Carry on! I'll lurk.

@Ragman,
Thanks, R. Those were the only panelists I could remember. Totally forgot about Kilgallon. Actually I had mainly seen what I am guessing was a 70s version but Kitty was still there. The old b/w ones must be on Youtube and they have Cerf, etc.

@Fountofwisdom,
Kitty Carlisle was a beautiful actress with an outstanding personality. She was married to Moss Hart...famous theater producer and writer.

She was a panelist on a very popular TV show called What Is My Line?

Not sure of where Jespah is going with this...but I wanted her to know that I once served her a drink at a party. Served Frank Sinatra and Gregory Peck and Gina Lollabrigida drinks at that same party.

Ragman just made me realize that I don't think I ever welcomed you to A2K. I may have and don't remember (not unusual), but if I did forget, I would also like to welcome you Fountofwisdom to A2K.
I've enjoyed your posts very much and I hope you continue to post here. I find you a very easy person talk with and I think you have a good head on your shoulders.
It really has been a pleasure getting to know you better these past few days Very Happy

@jespah,
BTW, did you know that Kitty was an opera singer (late '60s and '70s), ... Kitty Carlise, acted and sang pretty coloratura (sp?) in Marx Bothers classic comedy, "A Night at the Opera"?

She was a panelist in "'To Tell the Truth" , a spin-off of in later years to "What's My Line, was 'I've Got a Secret', where she was a regular panelist from 1957 to 1978. She was also a semi-regular panelist on Password, Match Game, Missing Links, and What's My Line.
