Can you look at this map and say Israel does not systemically appropriate land?

Have you read the Gotz Aly book, Why Germany, Why the Jews? The belief that Jews were too successful for their small numbers drove much of the self-righteous anti-Semitism of early 20th century German anti-Semitism. The whole Arab/Israeli antagonism, in my opinion, is generated by similar feelings to what many Germans felt in the early 20th century - the collective German race should not be shown up by these Jews.

I agree that anti-Jewish sentiments are probably a result of jealousy generated by the fact that Jews are achievers...bit time achievers.

But yor conclusion that the Arab/Israeli problem is also a result of this is absurd. Jews and Arabs got along relatively peacefully...much more peacefully than people elsewhere on the globe...for thousands of years BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL in that area.

It is the state of Israel there that sticks in their craw...AND RIGHTLY SO.

The state of Israel in that area is the problem...and anyone with an open mind can easily see that.

Your point that, "Jews and Arabs got along relatively peacefully...much more peacefully than people elsewhere on the globe...for thousands of years BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL in that area, is ignoring the current context that Jews built up Israel, so that Tel Aviv is like a Los Angeles in the middle east. Palestineans have the same human emotions as other humans, and resentment/envy is evoked, in my opinion, when Jews made Israel into a modern westernized nation, next to nations with balkanized populations and nominal human resources for modernization.

The fact that Arab armies attacked in 1948 might just reflect Arab prescience that these Jews were going to make them appear backward on the world stage, in my opinion.

BOTTOM LINE: For thousands of years the Jews and Arabs of that area got along relatively peacefully...co-existing relatively harmoniously.

Then the state of Israel was introduced into the area...

...and it has been nothing but hatred and killing ever since.

The problem is not the Jewish people...and the problem is not the Arabs...

...the problem, Foofie...is the state of Israel in that area.

Get over it.

THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

I take it with a grain of salt. The "X" chromosome of Ashkenazi Jews supposedly has a high incidence of being from a local European woman. The theory being that a group of Jewish males set up trading posts in the hinterlands of Europe, and the young males married local girls, and raised the children Jewish. That might explain why Jewish women have Gentile female friends, while Jewish men tend not to have the same friendships amongst Gentile males, in my observations. Said tongue in cheek, but perhaps there's a grain of truth. Or, does that reflect the old adage, "all cats look grey in the dark"?

I don't think anyone is running to effect "your" solution. You solve the world's problems and all you get is ingratitude.

That's a rather ignorant conclusion. After graduating from college, I went to work for Florsheim Shoe Company, the premier shoe company in the US at that time. I was promoted to Audit Manager after working as a field auditor for 3.5 years, and worked in management positions for the rest of my working career. I had two more Jewish bosses who gave me regular salary increases and promotions. One of my friend is Bob Brodsky, a rocket scientist who lives in Southern California. Yea, he's a Jew.

I'm a New Yorker; quite over it.

Another solution might be to make Israel a monarchy. Palestineans might then get the hint that they are just commoners, and learn humility? I know, I know, they have historical roots there. So did Jews in Europe after the Romans kicked them out of Jerusalem, two-thousand years ago. That didn't stop Europeans from always treating them as outsiders, just because their respective pagan tribe plotzed down on one or another European country.

A paper published in 2000 by geneticists Harry Ostrer, a professor of genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and University of Arizona geneticist Michael Hammer showed that most Ashkenazis, Italians, North Africans, Iraqi, Iranian, Kurdish and Yemenite Jews share common Y-DNA haplotypes that are also found among many Arabs from Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. Only a small percentage of the Y-DNA of Jews originated outside of the Middle East—some in the Caucuses.

You are not part of the equation. I was making reference to males of European descent. Do the statistics amongs Jews that have Irish, Italian, Polish friends. Perhaps, an occasional Protestant friend, if the Jew is accomplished or successful, in my opinion.

As I said, you cannot be part of the equation. Look at all of the Jewish males that marry Asian girls. Aside from the attraction to her intelligence, slimness, lovely hair, there is the reality that her family doesn't often have some beer swilling anti-Semite, in my opinion.

GAZA/JERUSALEM (Reuters) - At least 76 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in Israel's Gaza offensive, Palestinian officials said on Thursday, and militants kept up rocket attacks on Tel Aviv and other cities in warfare showing no signs of ending soon.

Eight Palestinian family members, including five children, were killed in an early morning air strike that destroyed at least two homes in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the Palestinian Health ministry said.

Israel's military made no comment on what would be the deadliest strike since the offensive began on Tuesday.

People know to leave a beehive of Africanized bees alone. But, shoot rockets into Israel, kill teenagers, and there should be no repercussions?

Naturally, many people only are concerned about how the Palestineans suffer, since Jewish Israelis are outside many people's moral compass. As Golda Meier once said, she can forgive the Arabs for what they have done to Israel, but she can't forgive the Arabs for what they have made Israel do.

@Foofie,
No, the real issue is the Jews stealing Palestinian property, and having no legal recourse. Palestinians do not have equality in Israel. THAT'S THE ISSUE. Without hope, their only recourse is violence; they have nothing to lose; they've already lost it all!

What would you do in their place? Please be honest - if that's possible.

I doubt anyone will adopt the obvious solution, Foofie...especially with the US backing Israel up.

My thoughts are that the Arabs and Jews will continue to kill and torture each other over there...and never experience a moment of true peace.

Ahhh...a kind of "Do unto others!"

But what happens when it gets to the extremes...like happened to the Jews in Europe?
