I do not mean that sarcastically - I have relatives from Liberia, one I knew quite well and she me; niece's brothers caught up in the horrible in Sierra Leone war. I knew them as toddlers.

I worked with a man in LA, a helper, starter in our lab then for us (he moved way up), from Eritrea, who had a great part of his family have no education at all, since many of the children went to war.

I also remember RG dumping on me for trying to act if I knew about africa, that I was trying to ruin a thread.

Seems to me there's a prejudice at play there... Catholic France had its first Jewish prime minister in 1936 (Leon Blum, my hero Smile

), and perhaps half a dozen since then. Heck, if Dominique Strauss-Kahn had not f....d up (literally) we'd have a Jewish president right now...

A Jewish American friend asked me, way back when DSK was still a strong candidate to the socialist party primaries, if the fact that he was Jewish could play against him. I said no, then asked about the US.

He said: The US are not ready for a Jewish president... but [joke] it doesn't matter, because the Jews control the president anyway...

Well, the message has alway been clear about the US's support of Israel.
Even Obama's mention of Israel is of our country's support. I know of no president that has denied our support for Israel.

Nothing I can do about it. Our government does what it wants to do. Once elected into high office, they are corrupted. What good reason did Obama have to send 50,000 more troops into Afghanistan? That cost more American lives affecting all their families that suffered from all the casualties of war. That's a very high price to pay. When they came back, they were not provided the necessary support system, and many committed suicide. That's unforgivable in my books.

How do these idiots sleep at night? How would Obama feel if he lost one of his daughters? He made many parents suffer the loss.

I guess, but California is not the least progressive state in the union either. Anyway, it would probably BE a factor in the general election in France but unsaid. No politician or journal would make an issue out of it, that' a very touchy subject, a "third rail".

I'm through with national politics. My one vote or one voice has never done anything to change what I perceived as wrong.

It greatly angered me when I wrote to Obama about lifting the embargo against Cuba, and his henchmen wrote back and said they can't do anything, because the Cuban people do not have freedoms. He's responsible for that response.

They're a bunch of unethical bastards that can't be trusted with the power they get from being elected our president or a member of congress.

I'll let this country vote for these same jokers who turned out to be the worst performing congress since 1947. My one vote will never do anything to help.

I'm old, and will enjoy my retirement without the bull shyt of trying to change what can't be changed.
