@okie,
Venezuela has raked in a lot of money from sales of oil. However, most of it fell into the hands of a small number of super-wealthy families. I guess you feel this is cool. Chavez, for some reason, thinks there should be redistribution. I guess that makes him a bad man in your eyes.

Of course, we have the same situation here with an increasing disparity of wealth and income. The dupes on the right have no problem with this.

@okie,
John Kerry did not lie about his service. Moreover, the sick Republican SOBs pulled out all stops in smearing him.

They WANT it like that. Most of them are petty losers who need the less fortunate to feel good about themselves.

@Advocate,
Fact check is a lib site, very biased. Look, I have no desire to plow the same old ground over and over, I remember the Swift Boaters, and read all of the stuff at the time, and concluded they were very very likely correct and Kerry was a dud. I already know from some of the other stuff Kerry said later that Kerry could twist and exaggerate the truth, so I am going to go with the Swift Boaters, no doubt in my mind. For one thing, Kerry did not complete his tour over there, and alot of the stuff he claimed just does not add up. Then add to that his showboating into Boston, saluting when he began his speech, it was all so transparently phony. Here is but one of the many Swift Boaters on Kerry:

You're linking to a website that promotes a book by Scott Swett.

Quote:
Scott Swett is
  • webmaster of WinterSoldier.com website
  • webmaster of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth website
  • director of 'Free Republic' (www.FreeRepublic.com)
  • rumored author of Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry (2004 book)

I think if you want to criticize others for linking to what you perceive to be "very biased" websites, you may want to refrain from linking to very biased websites yourself.

Just an idea.

This is so transparently duplicitous that it is sickening. Kerry never claimed that he finished his tour -- he was wounded in action and then left Nam. The Swift boaters allegations were demolished -- Kerry's men and the man he saved backed him completely. O'Neill, the Swift boat leader, by virtue of the Nixon tapes, was shown to be an outright liar. In a way, for you, a serial liar, to call Kerry a liar is downright amusing.

You've never been to Peshawar, obviously - I used to work there, and distinctly recall the stink of the Kabul river (Kabul is upstream, yet another of countless area towns lacking a sewage system); that's just one of several rivers criss-crossing Afghanistan, and yes, there are boats to be seen in many of them. You also know nothing of tanks: Afghanistan had hundreds of T-34s even before the Soviets invaded them in 1979.

Why make a comment on Afghani boats and tanks when you so obviously know nothing on either subject?!

@djjd62,
Possibly I misunderstood your post: you mentioned "swift boats" and "tanks" in connection with Afghanistan; you can't have been thinking of heavy armor in South Vietnam - you know the place is a delta, presumably - so what exactly were you talking about?

@Advocate,
Advocate, I believe this is the more accurate characerization of Kerry and his bogus Winter Soldier event.

In fact, the entire Winter Soldiers Investigation was a lie. It was inspired by Mark Lane's 1970 book entitled Conversations with Americans, which claimed to recount atrocity stories by Vietnam veterans. This book was panned by James Reston Jr. and Neil Sheehan, not exactly known as supporters of the Vietnam War. Sheehan in particular demonstrated that many of Lane's "eye witnesses" either had never served in Vietnam or had not done so in the capacity they claimed.

Here is another interesting tidbit about Kerry if you haven't heard it. Kerry was a phony way back in 71, and still is.

The second event was "Dewey Canyon III," or what VVAW called a "limited incursion into the country of Congress" in April of 1971. It was during this VVAW "operation" that John Kerry first came to public attention. The group marched on Congress to deliver petitions to Congress and then to the White House. The highlight of this event occurred when veterans threw their medals and ribbons over a fence in front of the Capitol, symbolizing a rebuke to the government that they claimed had betrayed them. One of the veterans flinging medals back in the face of his government was John Kerry, although it turns out they were not his medals, but someone else's.

@okie,
I doubt that even you believe the crap appearing in the National Review. It is amusing that you denigrate reputable journalists and then quote the NR.

@Advocate,
A reputable journalist actually researches some things out, which National Review does. If you would read reputable sources, you would already have known about Kerry's very dubious and false claims a very long time ago. For example, the throwing somebody elses medals by Kerry is a fact I believe. I think even Kerry has admitted that now.

@djjd62,
It would help if you would accurately read the account. One thing I've noticed here, when a poster can no longer argue the facts, they start making jokes about it. Face the truth, it is liberating.
