Meaning of clause?

Waiting for us outside the test room stood Mr. Hung, our Team Trainer. In front of the man who had high expectations of me, I uttered the pronouncement of failing with a sense of finality. I had never before let Mr. Hung down. However, over-confidence and complacence caused me to make careless mistakes in the problems and caused our team to subsequently lose to the other team.

Is 'I uttered the pronouncement of failing with a sense of finality' correctly used? If so, could you explain in simple words the meaning of that portion?

Many thanks.
