They don't have to. Because they all drive Prius's and Geo Metros. They're entitled for saving the earth by driving cars that help seal the hole in the ozone layer.
The best vehicle for dealing with this situation is a '58 Olds. You can nudge those clowns right of the expressway, and the damage to your body won't even be noticeable. Especially these days, with all the little tin can rice burners, if you're ever in an accident in a '58 Olds, not only will you probably be safe, but it's very likely that the jackass who caused it will be folded up in his vehicle like a cheap pocket knife.
Ah . . . the good old days . . . sigh . . .
