I've known a lot of people who have a problem with the > and the < signs.
Never bothered me, it just seemed obvious one was pointing down the number line, the other, up.
One roommate of mine, a nurse, told me she thought of it as fishes mouths, and the > fish was eating all the small numbers, leaving the bigger ones behind, and vice-versa.
I was like "are you serious?"
Another nurse, my old boss, would actually call me into her office when she was working on financials, and ask me which one she should use.
I more than once said to her "You're a nurse, they use those signs all the time in scripts and treatments and documentation. How can you have a problem with that? It would really make me worry if you were giving me medications."
WTF, over?
I told her about the fishes, and that seemed to, disturbingly enough, make sense to her.
