Department of Defense rules military chaplains can perform same-sex marriages on or off base if allowed by local and state law. Another step forward.

@RexRed,
I seem to see things very close as frank does on the subject!

It is sad that so many people think that religion is the best source for morality and never realize that it is a restraint on ethical evolution.

@reasoning logic,
I think religion has given us some of the worst people imaginable.

But--rl-- you have given us no indication what "ethical evolution" actually is either in theory or in practice. Do you actually go about, as I'm inclined to think you do, spouting the phrase "ethical evolution" as if it means you are an ethical evolutionist. Which you probably think you are. Others do too and some of them, I feel sure, possibly a lot given the chance, are not so nice and sweet like what you are.

Beware of what you ask. "Oh Baby! that God you've been praying to is gonna give you back what you're wishing on someone else." (Dylan). Thomas De Quincey elaborates on the idea. Way back.

However that may be, a definition of this term is the crux of the matter.

And all the best. Again De Quincey has it. Sublimity is in the meeting of opposites.

@spendius,
Spendius religion only progresses when society progresses but in the mean time religion as with most ideologies are not progressive, "they try to hold onto what they consider to be absolute truth!

This video explains things a little better in my opinion! If anyone is actually interested in truth.

@RexRed,
That sucks! Hopefully he will get back on the team and the principle fired for sexual discrimination!
The kid may not have wanted his sexual orientation known to the other students and it seems that the principle violated his rights!

I have mixed feelings about the wall street protests.

Yes, the rich need to pay their fair share. But these are the same rich that bring us Walmart so that the poor can buy things for 99 cents. Gives the "99" a whole new meaning.

Is the problem the greed of the rich or American greed in general? The wealthiest country in the world... can we expect much pity from poor countries who have lived in poverty for decades while American have lived off the fat of the hog?

I do support the wall street protests but I do not take myself that seriously.

I see it a little different, I see it as a group of people coming together to make it happen. Without the workers there would be no Walmarts! It takes everyone working together.

I think this person explains things very well!

So we fight wall street and they give in and and start paying taxes...

These tax funds are still handed out by our bought off electorate and funneled back to the rich.

It seems the problem is not wall street but our bought off electorate. Even a victory can be turned into a failure at the last minute by our own government.

We need to hold the electorate to their word and force these criminal politicians out of office the old fashioned way... with a vote.
