Oh I see, we should have had a religious homophobe for a judge instead. Maybe the Mormons can pay for more ads with their feed the poor donations to their church to stop gay judges from being allowed to weigh in on social issues.

Dear Eric:

Thank you for contacting me regarding employment discrimination. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue.

You expressed support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, known as ENDA. This legislation prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. As you may know, I voted for the passage of ENDA during the 104th Congress because I believe discrimination of any kind in the workplace should not be tolerated. While I do not support preferential treatment in the workplace, I feel that everyone, no matter their race, religion, or sexual orientation, should be treated equally and fairly in their work environment. Working men and women should be judged on the basis of their performance at work, and should not have to fear being fired because of their sexual orientation.

As you may know, on April 13, 2011, Senator Jeff Merkley introduced S.811, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. This legislation, of which I am a cosponsor, would prohibit employers from making decisions about hiring, firing, promoting or compensating an employee based on sexual orientation or gender identity. It would also make clear that preferential treatment and quotas are strictly prohibited, and that lawsuits cannot not be based on statistics about the sexual orientation or gender identity of employees. Upon introduction, S.811 was referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions for review.

At this time, there is no indication when the Employment Non-Discrimination Act will be reviewed by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. However, should the full Senate have the opportunity to consider this or similar legislation, you may be assured of my continued support.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. I value your opinion and hope that you continue to inform me of the issues that concern you.

Sincerely,
OLYMPIA J. SNOWE
United States Senator

Comment: Thank-you Olympia Snowe you can count on my vote and continued support. Many thanks!

@RexRed,
How about indecent exposure and Diogenes style displays of public masturbation?

Where do you draw the line Rex. Is it at your own "orientation"?

Two gays in love married and keeping their sexuality in the bedroom and tame, no role playing just partners in love. That is about my speed.

@RexRed,
So you do have a discrimination point.

But if your sexuality is confined to the bedroom how could it be a factor in recruitment. Nobody would know about it. That's why Kinsey had his 2% category. Everybody could claim to be one of the 2% and nobody could prove otherwise. Calling somebody a wanker being one way of making such a claim.

Einstein thrashed out relativity but he didn't cover "tame". But it wouldn't matter anyway if it's kept in the bedroom.

I think somebody is playing with words to get his name in the papers.

@spendius,
Imagine that Spendius!

If I were to do the same and I looked at my old ass self nude in the mirror and I was to be intellectually honest with myself I would probably reconsider!

What if you did the same thought experiment would you be successful as a pole dancer or would you be like me and reconsider the idea of being a pole dancer?

Just image grandfather in the nude, "Then you would somewhat realistically be seeing me in your imagination!

What a ugly sight for the youth to ever have to see! Would you not agree?

What a sore sight for the eyes to see, is it not?

I don't hide my sexuality, I just don't feel the need or desire to flaunt it. It is not a secret but neither is it an issue of contention. I object to decadent displays of public sexuality, i.e. heterosexual women on the back of motorcycles flashing their boobs in public I see as not much different than two men holding hands or an occasion kiss between gays.

People make it their business to expose homosexual relationships and some homosexuals see their sexuality as a form of pride. I just see my homosexuality as a simple fact of my life. Gays are not recruited (how idiotic) they are born the way they are. As Bisexuals prefer both sexes. Do heterosexuals need to "recruit" people to become straight? Your insinuation is insulting to mother nature and to innate human diversity. Do ethnic people recruit others to their persuasion? No they are what they are and likewise I am what I am. Will a white person's skin turn black after being "recruited"? No, ethnicity as with sexual preference is genetically decided in the womb by hormones and DNA. Denial or blindfolds do not negate DNA, biology and chemistry.

@RexRed,
The subject was discrimination in the workplace and where the line is drawn. The ENDA project looks like it too draws lines where it wants to and it is therefore just as bad in principle as anybody else drawing lines where they want to.

It looks like a scheme for providing homosexuals with compensation opportunities.

Olympia said she is not for "preferential treatment", I believe her and that is a reasonable stance.

Are you afraid Spend you might get shown up by a drag queen?

Good gracious no. I couldn't allow intimate contact like that with a drag queen. It is a dick with a chick makeover isn't it. No way.

With that attitude, the feeling I am sure would be mutual. The drag queen would be a more compassionate person than you. Yes they have a dick and they also have a heart. Much more than I an say for you.

The bible says "without love I am nothing"

I rarely these days quote the bible other than to shove it in the faces of the hypocritically pious.

@RexRed,
You shouldn't really be quoting the Bible Rex.

All I did was de-euphemise the expression "drag queen" and express what in my experience is the common attitude to such a manifestation.

That it provoked you to those lengths suggests that you have a more extreme attitude to the matter than I do. It's as if I am not allowed to have sexual taste preferences that you don't approve of. As I don't say that about you is proof that you are more bigoted than I am.
