@Cycloptichorn,
It certainly isn't much fun. The Romans found that too.

We kept the benefits though.

This is basically what I'm hoping for the US - a soft landing and then long rest period, in which we sort of shepherd the younger countries along.

You mean monogamy?

@parados,
I didn't but monogamy is a benefit. It's only fair that men only have to put up with one wife each. I suppose ladies would say the same.

I can see advantages to 200 wives but not to two or three.

@spendius,
spendi, You don't know of what you speak - as usual. There were many Mormons who had multiple wives, and both the husband and wives were happy.

If you look into history of most cultures, the royals usually had more than one wife - or at the very least, many concubines. A study of Ramses II will enlighten your knowledge.

Your bragging rights to have been well-read is a myth when you fail to understand what you read.

I wouldn't like to have to sit in a chair opposite to you for a lifetime ci. The Book of Job was only a fanciful fairy story.

I was thinking in terms of staged affliction compared to the real thing.

@spendius,
I totally ignore the bible, so it doesn't have any relevance - until people like you use it in trying to make a point.

@spendius,
What! Because I ignore the bible? The fictional books that's been on the best seller's list? LOL

@cicerone imposter,
They give them away for free most of the time. I don't know if you could say that the bible has ever really been a best seller.

If all bibles cost $17.99, I imagine the world's religious geography might not look the same.

Rather read Twain for $17.99

That's incredible fa. I imagine if you said that to a small group of people they would stare at you dumbfounded. Even I am stuck for words.

Yes. And, moreover, why do you keep spouting about the book if you have it on Ignore?

I don't ignore it, but I do disdain it. And why not? It is devoid of logic, and leads to fools like you spouting off all sorts of stupid **** on a regular basis.

Quit posing spendi. You have the bible on ignore just as much, you're a pretender.

@failures art,
It's a beautiful book and every writer of note has not only read it but has studied it carefully. I read it regularly when the book I am reading refers to some part of it. Which happens often.

Keep reading the arsewipes and ensure the continuation of your steady state which obviously set in a very long time ago.

7: And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

The Book of Job.

I know where that writer is coming from.

@spendius,
Most writers it seems will have read the three little pigs I suppose as well. I'm perfectly content with the comparison.
