@RexRed,
This has been poorly managed by the state govt. I love the citizen response, DIY rainbow paths are popping up all over the place, they even have their own Facebook page

'The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.'
This statement was made by an official representative of the U.S., but is actually a line from the English version of the Treaty of Tripoli of 1796, initially signed by a representative of the US on 4 November 1796 during Washington's presidency, approved by Congress 7 June 1797 and finally signed by President John Adams on 10 June 1797. Article 11 of it reads:

As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,— as it has in itself no character or enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,— and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Joel Barlow, who had served as Washington's chaplain, and was also a good friend of Paine and Jefferson was the representative in charge of the translation.

@RexRed,
This should cheer you up, it did me.

Quote:
The high court has upheld a classroom ban on a Christian school teacher who condemned the "homosexual lifestyle" in front of pupils.

In what is believed to be the first case of its kind, a judge on Friday rejected an appeal by science teacher Robert Haye against the decision to ban him indefinitely – a decision he says is likely to end his teaching career.

Haye told a year 11 class of pupils aged 15-16 that the way homosexual people lived was disgusting and a sin, according to the Bible.

He also told year 9 children aged 13-14 on another occasion that "anyone who worships on Sunday is basically worshipping the devil".

Haye, 43, and his family belong to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which observes Saturday as the Sabbath.

Following his February 2010 comments at Deptford Green school in Lewisham, south-east London, a teaching assistant complained and triggered an investigation.

Haye was sacked from his job at the 1,200-pupil inner city comprehensive.

He was also prohibited from teaching at any school or sixth-form college last July after the education secretary backed a decision of regulatory body the Teaching Agency recommending the ban.

Mr Justice King rejected his appeal at the high court in London, saying the ban was justified because Haye had shown lack of insight when he made his "inappropriate" comments and was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.

@izzythepush,
Thank you Izzy for posting this! You're awesome!

Comment:
Hate speech, bullying and male chauvinism have no place in a classroom... No less than terrorism or racism does... These forms of social discourse are forbidden for good, sound and ethical reasons. This goes to show that most "holy books" have no place in free societies, due to their lack of, TRUTH...

The sad thing is I wonder if a church will come to his rescue and give him a job teaching in a church.

On this we disagree, all books should be allowed in a free society regardless of how distateful you may find them.

Would this include child pornography books too?

@reasoning logic,
Thanks RL for bringing this into perspective...

Child porn books are equal to the old/new testament and Koran...

Melchizedek of the Bible believed in child sacrifice... Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek and Jesus was "of the order of Melchizedek"... According to the Bible Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me..."

Time to take off the blinders and see these supposed "holy books" and their barbaric gods for what they really are. Filth...

Izzy this post is not directed at you... I can see your point too but only so far...

There's a difference between banning child pornography, which is correct, and banning the written word, which I can't agree with. There are libel laws, and laws against hate speech which are adequate as things stand, in the UK at least. Banning any religious book would make you no different from the religious zealots and nazis who burn books.

Btw, RL is just trying to get a rise out of me, I stopped responding to him after he made disgusting comments about having my daughter raped.

It is nice to know that some of us find something wrong with looking at photos that are violent but I wonder why we are all unable to see the error in reading and teaching the lessons of violence.

I told Izzy that it would be a sociopath that would behave in that nature because Izzy thought that it may just be a way of reproduction or a way to insure someones gene pool is carried forward.

He took offense because I asked him if he would share that reasoning with his daughter if she was raped.

@izzythepush,
That is if you see the Bible as a religious book... I see it as a book of hate...

Nature and science are my only holy books...

1 Women are sinful by nature
2 Women need no genealogy because only men's count
3 Female harems are fine
4 Homosexuality punishable by death
5 Child sacrifice, okay to prove faith
6 Crucifying a man makes all the wrong in the book right
7 Trash this world because the next will be better
8 Scientists burnt at the stake because they disagreed with the book
9 The world kept in the dark because only clergy are permitted to read
10 The shielding of pedophiles in the name of God and the confessional
11 Biblically sanctioned genocide
12 Native Americans are savages
13 Black people are sons of Ham and cursed...

14 The Israelites kill Hamor, his son, and all the men of their village, taking as plunder their wealth, cattle, wives and children
15 God is unhappy with the wickedness of man and decides to do something about it. He kills every living thing on the face of the earth other than Noah's family and thereby makes himself the greatest mass murderer in history.
16 Moses murders an Egyptian
17 With the Lord's approval, Joshua mows down Amalek and his people
18 With the Lord's approval, a slave may be beaten to death with no punishment for the perpetrator as long as the slave doesn't die too quickly
19 "Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.
20 With the Lord's approval, the Israelites slay 3000 men.
21 "I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children."
22 As a punishment, the Lord will cause people to eat the flesh of their own sons and daughters and fathers and friends.
23 God makes Miriam a leper for seven days because she and Aaron had spoken against Moses.
24 A Sabbath breaker (who had gathered sticks for a fire) is stoned to death at the Lord's command.
25 The Lord causes the earth to open and swallow up the men and their households (including wives and children) because the men had been rebellious.
26 A fire from the Lord consumes 250 men.
27 A plague from the Lord kills 14,700 people.
28 The Israelites utterly destroy the Canaanites.
29 Fiery serpents, sent by the Lord, kill many Israelites.
30 With the Lord's approval, the Israelites slay Og "... and his sons and all his people, until there was not one survivor left ...."
"And the Lord said unto Moses, take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun ...."
31 "When the Lord delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the males .... As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves."
32 "In the cities of the nations the Lord is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes."
33 Achan, his children and his cattle are stoned to death because Achan had taken a taboo thing.
34 Saul smites the Amalekites.
35 David has Rechan and Baanah killed, their hands and feet cut off, and their bodies hanged by the pool at Hebron.
36 David slew 22,000 Syrians.
37 David slew 18,000 Edomites in the valley of salt and made the rest slaves.
38"David left neither man nor woman alive ....". (Note: This implies that children and infants were included in the slaughter.)
39 Solomon has Adonijah murdered. Solomon has Joab murdered. Solomon has Shime-i murdered.
40 Fire from heaven comes down and consumes fifty men.
41 Menahem ripped open all the women who were pregnant.

Where is the freedom in any of this?
A book of bondage deserves no freedom to proliferate...
...and the list goes on!

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/donald_morgan/atrocity.html

I was chatting with a relative yesterday and she said she was crying and I asked why? She said, "Because I don't want you to burn in hell."

She said, "Just read the book and you will find the love of God."
