When I rejoined this august and learned forum I started with a fairly obscure reference to an advertisment that appeared on Australian TV many years for the Yellow Pages. It involves the fairly odd concept of a bloke trying to find a part for a car he owns...

The big fellow here is an Aussie actor called Tommy Dysart. At the beginning of the ad, he's walking away from a yellow Goggomobil...

...half of the joke being that someone so tall could even fit into one.

@Mr Stillwater,
At school a classmate (who was already 18 when we just were allowed to drink and smoke officially [16]) had a Goggo, drove with it to school until ... we "parked" it in the toilette.

There was a nice Goggo participating in an oldtimer rallye I (co-)drove with recently.
Deletd my photo of it, though.

We were better - but had a 500 ccm 'car', a real 4-seater!

He walks into the house, long-suffering wife looks up.

"Broken fret". (you also have to imagine this being said in a voice much like Mike Myers doing Shrek)

He starts looking through the Yellow Pages (TM). Then he's on the phone...

"..got a problem with my Goggomobil. GOGGOMOBIL".

"my Goggomobil and I was wondering if... G-O-GG-O".

So, I started driving my children mad by quoting (in a poor imitation of a Scots accent) "G-O-GG-O GOGGOMOBIL! It's nawt the Dart!"

Then I took them to see one.

Little know fact is that Australia produced its own Goggomobil.

The Goggomobil Dart (about 700 in total) was manufactured in Brookvale in Sydney from imported chassis and parts into a custom built fibreglass frame. It was marvellously underpowered and lacked 'fancy' frills such as doors. As the body couldn't rust there are still a few around.

Engine in the back - on the weekend it would go back into the lawnmover

@reubenvogt,
A 'fret' is actually the word 'Fritz' - the nickname of his little German ar!
