@candide,
Acorn in not a radical group. They work helping the poor find housing and education. In 2004, I think, Acorn was accused of malfeasance or some sort of thing but they sued their accuser and won. I have not heard that Obama is tied to any radical groups. He like many people in public life and been introduced to or attneded events were controversial folks were but that kind of association is not "being tied to a radical group".

A notable Woods board member is William Ayers, who in the 1960s was a member of the terrorist group Weatherman, and was a wanted fugitive for over a decade as a result of the group's bombing campaign; today Ayers is a Professor of Education at the University of Illinois. In 2002 the Woods Fund made a grant to Northwestern University Law School's Children and Family Justice Center, where Ayers' wife, Bernardine Dohrn, was employed. Barack Obama was one of Ayers' fellow Woods Fund board members at that time.

A former President of the Woods Fund was Maria G. Valdez, a member of the Regional Council of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the most influential Hispanic advocacy group in the United States.

The Woods Fund's philanthropic agendas are focused in three program areas:

1) The Community Organizing program finances the formation of grassroots organizations, staffed mostly by volunteers, that attempt to shape public policy through activism.

2) The Arts and Culture program supports those who combine artistic pursuits with leftwing activism in the form of community organizing.

3) The Public Policy program supports "policy and constituency-building work that helps low-income individuals and families to attain higher standards of living," and aims to address "issues of poverty among low-wage workers as well as unskilled potential workers."

Woods Fund philanthropy is founded on the axiom that there are "structural barriers to job opportunities, job retention and job advancement" that harm the "working poor." The Fund also condemns what it considers discrimination directed against those "having prison records or felony convictions that make it difficult for them to enter the workforce."

The Woods Fund has given sizable grants to the Midwest Academy; the Tides Foundation; the Tides Center; the Nature Conservancy; AGAPE Youth Development; the Arab American Action Network; the Center for Community Change; Trinity United Church of Christ (where Barack Obama was a congregant); the Chicago Interfaith Committee on Worker Issues; the Community Justice Initiative; the Center for Law and Human Services; the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability; Grassroots Collaborative (for American Friends Service Committee); Latin United Community Housing Association; the Center for Economic Progress; the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless; the Chicago Rehabilitation Network; the Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights; the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights; the Juvenile Justice Initiative of Illinois; Latinos United; the Lawyers Committee for Better Housing; the National Center on Poverty, Inc.; Protestants for the Common Good; the Public Action Foundation; the Community Justice for Youth Initiative; the Safer Foundation; the Woodstock Institute; Work, Welfare and Families; the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN); the About Face Theater Collective; Day Laborer Collaboration; Business and Professional People for the Public Interest; the Coalition of African Service Providers; the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law; the Funders' Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities; Urban Outreach; and the Proteus Fund.

The philanthropic objective of the group, and the grants it gave out do not reconcile. Anyone notice the nice tight little group we have here?

And some will trust Obama to use such "good judgment" should he become President?

@Woiyo9,
I didn't realize that Arab American's should be considered radicals...

Does this mean we should avoid supporting any candidate that has contact with these Arab Americans?

@parados,
Were any of the aforementioned ever associated with the Arab American Action Network?

Just so you know waht they represent.....

"JERUSALEM " The board of a nonprofit organization on which Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director alongside a confessed domestic terrorist granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a "catastrophe" and supports intense immigration reform, including providing drivers licenses and education to illegal aliens.

The co-founder of the Arab group in question, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, also has held a fundraiser for Obama. Khalidi is a harsh critic of Israel, has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.

In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, for which Khalidi's wife, Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to the AAAN for $35,000 in 2002.

Obama was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to the Fund's website. According to tax filings, Obama received compensation of $6,000 per year for his service in 1999 and 2000.

Obama served on the Wood's Fund board alongside William C. Ayers, a member of the Weathermen terrorist group which sought to overthrow of the U.S. government and took responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971.

Ayers, who still serves on the Woods Fund board, contributed $200 to Obama's senatorial campaign fund and has served on panels with Obama at numerous public speaking engagements. Ayers admitted to involvement in the bombings of U.S. governmental buildings in the 1970s. He is a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The $40,000 grant from Obama's Woods Fund to the AAAN constituted about a fifth of the Arab group's reported grants for 2001, according to tax filings obtained by WND. The $35,000 Woods Fund grant in 2002 also constituted about one-fifth of AAAN's reported grants for that year.

The AAAN, headquartered in the heart of Chicago's Palestinian immigrant community, describes itself as working to "empower Chicago-area Arab immigrants and Arab Americans through the combined strategies of community organizing, advocacy, education and social services, leadership development, and forging productive relationships with other communities."

It reportedly has worked on projects with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, which supports open boarders and education for illegal aliens.

The AAAN in 2005 sent a letter to New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson in which it called a billboard opposing a North Carolina-New Mexico joint initiative to deny driver's licenses to illegal aliens a "bigoted attack on Arabs and Muslims."

Speakers at AAAN dinners and events routinely have taken an anti-Israel line.

The group co-sponsored a Palestinian art exhibit, titled, "The Subject of Palestine," that featured works related to what some Palestinians call the "Nakba" or "catastrophe" of Israel's founding in 1948.

According to the widely discredited Nakba narrative, Jews in 1948 forcibly expelled hundreds of thousands - some Palestinians claim over one million - Arabs from their homes and then took over the territory."

So it is OK with you that Obama shows the judgment to work with such an organization?

@Woiyo9,
Wow. world net daily...

Do you have a source from established media that actually uses real journalism standards?

I see a lot of smearing in that "news" but little that calls into question the organization itself.

Quote:
Allegations of PLO connections

Khalidi has been accused of having ties to the Palestinian Liberation Organization, based on his work for Wafa in the late 1980s, and later serving as an advisor to the Palestinian delegation during the Madrid Conference of 1991.[15][16] Khalidi denied the allegation that he served as a PLO spokesman.[17] Khalidi explained that he often spoke to journalists in Beirut, and was usually cited, without attribution, as a well-informed Palestinian source. He also said that he was unaware of any misidentification as a PLO spokesman.[15]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashid_Khalidi

Funny how world net daily only repeats the accusation without sourcing it and gives it some semblance of credibility by saying "reportedly."

The accusation by world net daily has as much credibility as writing "reportedly McCain is a Manchurian Candidate, brainwashed during his POW time in Vietnam." I didn't make it up. I am only reporting what others have said. But does it make it true because others have "reported" it? I don't think so but you believe the accusation about Khalidi without any sourcing other than "reportedly".

@parados,
Is this more to your likeing?

"AAAN has worked closely with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, which seeks to: (a) promote open borders immigration policies; (b) give illegal aliens who attend Illinois high schools (dubbed “undocumented students” by AAAN) "the opportunity to pursue higher education"; (c) press the state for increased funding for immigrant services, such as English Language, Outreach and Interpretation, and Civics programs; and (d) "support other beneficial immigrant rights legislation."

In December 2005, AAAN and numerous other Arab lobby groups composed a letter to New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, characterizing a North Carolina/New Mexico joint initiative to deny driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants as a “bigoted attack on Arabs and Muslims.” At issue, said the letter, was “an inflammatory and misleading billboard campaign … which contains extremely negative images of Arabs and Arab cultural symbols with the message, ‘Don’t License Terrorists.’ The billboards unfairly conflate the question of immigration and national security and cast a shadow of suspicion on Arabs and Muslims, unfairly equating them with terrorism and encouraging an environment that can lead to prejudice and hate crimes. In doing so, the ads utilize false stereotypes and racist rhetoric to promote an anti-immigrant agenda.”

AAAN is “committed to speaking out” against what it calls the pervasive “biased reporting, media stereotypes, and the criminalization of Arabs and Muslims.” Its staff and Board have developed a Speakers’ Bureau of experts on these issues from throughout the Chicago area, speakers who have made many presentations to audiences at schools, universities, churches, community centers, and corporations. Moreover, they facilitate workshops and “provide training to agencies on the provision of culturally appropriate human services to our community.”

In early 2005, AAAN co-sponsored an art exhibit titled "The Subject of Palestine." Held at DePaul University and featuring the works of ten Palestinian artists, the exhibit's central theme was "the compelling and continuing tragedy of Palestinian life ... under [Israeli] occupation ... home demolition ... statelessness ... bereavement ... martyrdom, and ... the heroic struggle for life, for safety, and for freedom."

AAAN’s hostile view of the Jewish state is further manifest in the organization’s reference to Israel’s creation in 1948 as Al Nakba (“The Catastrophe”). In collaboration with the American Friends Service Committee, AAAN recently initiated a project titled “Al Nakba: 1948 As Experienced by Chicago Palestinians.” This venture solicits photographs, letters, and verbal accounts of local Palestinians’ recollections about their sufferings immediately before, during, and after Israel’s establishment.

Among the current luminaries of AAAN's staff are: (a) Vice President Ali Abunimah, who maintains the website ElectroicIntifada.com and is a Board member of the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center; and (b) Executive Director Hatem Abudayyeh, who has condemned “the Israeli government and its military killing machine.”

AAAN actively collaborates with scores of leftist organizations nationwide. Among these are the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the American Friends Service Committee, Amnesty International, the Arab American Institute, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the 8th Day Justice Center, MADRE, the Mosque Foundation, the National Lawyers Guild, Service Employees International Union, and Voices in the Wilderness.

AAAN has received donations from the Fry Foundation, the Tides Foundation, the Polk Brothers Foundation, and the Woods Fund of Chicago.

Discover the networks... that's right up there with WND in terms of 'bullshit' value...

None of what you listed about the AAAN is illegal, immoral, or even radical. Epic fail on your part.

That isn't a respected news organization either.

Again, it is little more than a slanted piece coming from a point of view. I see disparate facts pulled together to try to create something that probably doesn't exist.

One could easily argue that the Zionist Organization of America is a terrorist organization because they were founded to create a Jewish homeland and take land away from people that legally lived there. You want to argue that the people that lost their land have no rights and their story shouldn't be told when you highlight the collection of those stories as your evidence of the AAAN being bad. I would expect you of all people to be a little more understanding Woiyo.

@Woiyo9,
Parados is a left wing moron, Woiyo9. Ask him about the conflict of interest of Barney Frank who was on the Banking Committee when he was either servicing or being serviced by his lover, Herb. Herb was a high ranking official at FANNIE MAE who is on record of having bragged that Barney was his lover.

What did Barney do? He was on record as opposing CLOSER SCRUTINY of Fannie Mae. This was in the late nineties.

This story has been all over FOX News, but no where else, Woiyo9. The left wingers will probably say that Barney did nothing wrong. They don't know how to spell Conflict of Interest. Barney should have recused himself before making ANY COMMENTS as a member of the Banking Committee with regards to the fact that CLOSER SCRUTINY of Fannie May was needed.

Bill Clinton himself indicated that the Democrats resisted any efforts to tighten up on Fannie Mae at the end of his term.

Barack Hussein Obama did little or nothing to bring a man who let Fannie Mae get into such a poor condition--Mr. Raines. Of course, Mr. Raines who was the top man at Fannie Mae, is a brother. Obama would never ciritize him.

Woiyo9--when Obama is president you must pledge to do everything feasible to show that he is a fake and that he does not deserve to be President.

When I think of the title I feel sorry for our country...The most LIBERAL Senator in the Senate who is a ghetto punk and was educated in a Moslem School in Indonesia and learned the Koran.

Ladies and Gentlemen--PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA.

What kind of name is Barack anyway? What language does it derive from?

And what does Hussein mean?

Obama? Is that African?

Huffington Post doesn't meet my criteria which I thought was pretty specific. The NY Times would if it is an actual news item and not an editorial.

I hardly think it is "partisan" to want my sources to be actual reported news from an established and edited news source with reasonable journalistic standards.

Lets see..
Frank broke up with Herb Moses in 1998.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/frank121898.htm

The GOP controlled the House from 1994-2006 so Barney Frank wasn't in charge of any committee nor was he in the majority on any committee.

The legislation that was supposedly opposed by Frank was in 2003.
http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/23617.html

I think most people that don't work at Fox realize that 2003 is 5 years after 1998.

You apparently have not read the story in the Wall Street Journal, have you, paradox? It doesn't conform with your blurb. Herb Moses did not break up with Barney Frank in 1998 since Herb Moses was bragging all over DC recently that he and Barney were an item. This story has legs and you and the LIBERALS are going to have a hard time explaining it.

@candide,
Yes, Candide, I have some information. But it's not about Left Wing Groups, it's about the ghetto boy Obama's ties to Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi Billionaire, who transferred a 3.5 million dollar loan to Rezko on May 23, just weeks before the Obama purchase of the mansion in Kenwood. THE LONDON TIMES wrote:

"The money transfer raises the question of whether funds from Nadhmi Auchio helped Mr. Obama buy his mock Georgian mansion in Chicago.

When US Disrict Judge Amy J. St. Eve found our Rezko had disobeyed her order by failing to disclose this loan,she had him thrown in jail.

At Rezko's trial, the government's star witness, Stuart Levine, testified that he attended a Reception that Rezko held at his home for Auchi on April 3, 2004. LEVINE FURTHER TESTIFIED THAT BARACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA ATTENDED THE RECEPTION EVEN THOUGH OBAMA 'S MEMORY IS BAD ABOUT THIS.

"The connection between Mr. Auchi and Senator Obama is tenuous', wrote Jack Kelly on RealClearPolitics.com, 'BUT given Mr. Auchi's shady past, his history of BRIBING POLITICIANS, it's not unreasonable to ask if Mr. Auchi, through REZKO, was trying to buy influence with a rising political star"

But WHO IS AUCHI?

"Bill Gertz of the Washington Times uncovered A 2004 PENTAGON REPORT indentifiying Auchi as a global arms dealer who 'BEHIND THE FACADE OF LEGITMATE BUSINESS, SERVED AS SADDAM HUSSEIN'S
P R I N C I P A L INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL MANIPULATOR AND BAG MAN>"

The ghetto boy Obama just cant keep away from trouble, can he?

He trained with Saul Alinsky's Communist Community Organizers, had a Communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis when he was in High School, backed the Socialist/Commmunist Party in Kenya when he went to visit there; worshipped in a church for ten years without ever knowing that the Pastor had tha attitudes--GOD DAMN AMERICA; got closely involved with a former weatherman bomb thrower, Bill Ayres and served on a Board with him for THREE YEARS--in fact worked for him; got a big financial break on his house purchase from Anton convicted political fixer; and has the gall to say that all of these associations WERE INNOCUOUS.

Does the fist bumping boy really think we are so dumb?
