How do I make a bat head?

Mo wants to be a bat -- NOT BATMAN -- for Halloween this year.

I found some cool bat(man) (don't tell) wings that pop out when you pull the ripcord that he thinks are cool. I figure I can put him in some black sweats and call it done except for the face.

I was thinking I could modify a dog mask or a rat mask - something with a snout mask - to make into a bat face but I'm striking out on finding anything. I was thinking it would be cool to make it more like a hat that had a bat face than a mask but I'm kind of stumped.

Any ideas on how to make a big ole bat head?

@boomerang,
I would paint his face black put plether ears on a head band and buy those dog snouts - you should be able to get one at Party City or something...

or...you could just glue plether ears to a black baseball cap and paint his face black...that's what I'd do...my kids would think that was cool.

@boomerang,
Find a straight-on view of a photo of a bat head.
Print it or cut it out and make it the size of about 8 x 10. (maybe someone you know has a printer or graphics program)
Back it with construction paper or cardboard.
Cut out eyes nose and mouth fitted to the location of the person who will be wearing it.
Attach an elastic or rubber band and staple it to the back of the mask.
Put it on the child and see what needs adjusting or trimming so they can breathe, talk and see properly

@mismi,
I've been looking everywhere for those snouts and can't find one. Party city, huh? I'll have to see if I can find one of those.

Maybe I'm just looking too early. Halloween is a HUGE deal in my neighborhood and I'm trying to get a jump start on things.

@Ragman,
That sounds pretty easy. I have a photoshop and a good printer so I could probably do it. I'd like it to be a little more 3-D though. Maybe I could print out side views and put it together like a cone type thing......

Dog noses - you could paint...but they only sell by bulk there...still $5.99 though...still looking.

@boomerang,
Does it have to be a whole bat head? Or would a hood and mask work?

@boomerang,
Paper mache over a ballon blown up enough as to cover your face. When it drys cut out eyes, nose and paint it. You can use that instant paper mache is a jar you can buy at a craft store.

@Foxfyre,
Yeah!!! Something like that:

Maybe I need to look under decorations instead of masks!

He hasn't suggested any particular species of bat, little k, so I think I'll be okay with whatever I come up with.

I have a hard time believing that with all those fake noses there is not one bat!

@boomerang,
There is an upsetting lack of bat paraphanelia out there.

@mismi,
Yes, that is to what I was referring.

Easy to use 1/2 white glue, 1/2 water, shred in some paper and then use it like modeling clay. Just squish out the glue/water mixture to get the desired consistency.

Don't try to force-dry the stuff though.

I wish he would just be a ghostbuster again. That I can make. I have a hughly elaborate ghostbuster outfit on hand.

I don't think I'm quite talented enough with paper mache to make a mask that would conform to any kind of safety and comfort requirements.

I would really like something like something like a rubber/latex mask that I could stretch over his old bike helmet so it didn't even cover his face.

@DrewDad,
DrewDad! Those are great!!!! Okay, so the second one is $150.00 and I'm really glad I checked the price before I showed it to Mo because he would totally love that. That one from wondercostumes just might do the trick! Thanks!!!
