I was talking to a coffeshop friend this morning who was telling me that his boss is going to learn about "motivation" today at a local hotel conference. He told his boss to forget it; he said that American productivity have been increasing for the past eight years, but was not rewarded with comparable wage increases, and to to ask workers to work harder is ridiculous.
