@squinney,
Democratic: 2,831,044
Republican: 1,988,085
Libertarian: 3,095
Unaffiliated: 1,380,497
Total: 6,202,721

Another (rounded) 26,500 Dem registrations compared to 7,150 Republicans and 12,250 Unaffiliateds. Total new registered voters in the past 14 days... +46,305. Dem registration to Rep. is nearly 4 to 1. Whoo-Hoo! NC is gonna be BLUE!

I was wondering how all of this compared to 2004 and went to look up some numbers. Found this very interesting:

The high number of unaffiliateds still bother me. But, at least the counties mentioned as having highest number of new registrants (Mecklenburg, Guilford, Wake and a couple of others) are Dem strongholds. I know Wake county in particular has been crammed full of northerners (NY & NJ especially) over the past 4 years. Thought that might make a difference this go around.
