@squinney,
Another interesting tidbit about the McCain rhetoric is his charge against Obama for getting lobby money from Mae and Mac, but the truth of the matter is that McCain received over 160,000 while Obama received about 10% of that.

That McCain is a sleezeball who continues his lines of lies, and those attending his campaign meets are eating it up.

Interesting how the comparison demonstrates how Obama's base is in lots of small donors, while McCain, Romney and Tancredo benefited from having large donors.

@nimh,
Is there a breakdown of who the contributors were to each candidate - especially to McCain and Obama? McCain is charging that Obama is tied to the lobbyists, but that sounds contrary to the common knowledge that Obama gets most of his donations from the citizens.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes. If you follow the link Squinney posted and use the "Search contributions" form, you can find information about each individual donation listing the amount donated and the name, employer and occupation of the donor.

North Carolina Voter Registration as of 10/09/2008
Democratic: 2,753,569
Republican: 1,965,684
Libertarian: 1,900
Unaffiliated: 1,342,044

Looks like a Blue state to me. Not sure why there are so many unaffiliated registrants.

This is cool - especially since you get to see everyone's names.

I found some one from my company - I'll need to look him up. Also, surprising some of the occupations and how much they contribute - like a public school teacher contributing $2,200 - jeepers that seems high and some of the odd amounts like $2.

@squinney,
Updated NC Registration info since deadline of 10/10/08:

Voter Registration as of 10/17/2008
Democratic: 2,804,519
Republican: 1,980,936
Libertarian: 2,721
Unaffiliated: 1,368,240
Total: 6,156,416

Around 53,000 new Dems, 15,000 new Reps, 26,000 new Unaffils. Why 821 more would register as Libertarian at this time is weird to me. Might as well be Unaffiliated. Looks like the Dems are motivated, though.

Some registration will continue through Nov. 1st due to One Stop where we can register and vote at the same time.
