@realjohnboy,
I was thinking about the issue of whether or not we're getting better at guessing. On the surface there's the increased percentage of correct guesses. I think it's pretty hard to sort out wehther or not we're getting better vs the teams settling down into predictable wins and losses. Sort of like the volatility issue of the current stock market.

If interested, we could compare it with last year's guesses at this point in the schedule and measure the %v over the season and see if the trends matche last season's trends. Wonder how that stacks up? of xcourse we have variables like a few different players but for the most part we're the same people - just a little wiser.

@Ragman,
I doubt that we are getting any smarter, Ragman. I would speculate that part of our success (if indeed we are doing better than last year) has to do with the fact that there are some pretty bad teams in the NFL this year. Through 10 weeks (with each team getting 1 bye week) Detroit is 0-9, KC and Cincy are 1-8 and, at 2-7 are St Louis, Oakland, SF and Seattle. Those 7 teams have combined for a stunning record of 10-53. That makes picking somewhat easier if picks are based on team records. I'll see if I can find the records for last year.

@realjohnboy,
Appreciate that...thanks, RJB. I can't recall last year's bad teams too well, but are there many more really bad teams than last year at this time?

oops, I answered my own question: I just looked back at 2007 and Miami was the worst at season's end at 1-15, followed by St. Louis at 3-13, KC, Oakland, Atlanta and NY Jets at 4-12. At 5-11 were SF and Baltimore.

@Ragman,
And through Week #10 of 2007, the 7 worst team's were at 12-51. Not much different than this year.

@realjohnboy,
Out of curiosity, I wonder what our season-to-date percentage of correct guesses was?

@Ragman,
I don't know. Last year JPB from Chicago was kind enough to offer to let me go on sabbatical from running this. I played but did squat regarding keeping the stats. I can't even remember the name of the tread.

@realjohnboy,
Just to let you know, I looked in the archives first before I asked. It's not a problem. It's just my idle curiosity. I tried doing a keyword search but this site..umm..is less than ideal for a simple search (I used NFL...football..etc.)

@ehBeth,
You have mentioned dance class before. What kind of dance, if I may ask?

@realjohnboy,
Monday night is bellydance, Wednesday night is Egyptian folkdance.

Nevah too old to learn something new - or ancient.
