@jespah,
Pogroms and persecution were ingrained in the European population. When the first crusade was announced, the first thing those boys did was to slaughter Jews in the Rhineland. It was known as the Rhineland massacres, and the Germans were very pleased with themselves. Isn't christianity a wonderful thing?

@jespah,
Quote:
I don't speak for all Jews. You don't speak for all Christians. As for the enmity, eh, you got a few years to hear about it?
Fair enough.

Gotts add that I didn't mean to imply there was not descrimination against Jews. Holy hell, has their been.
My last answer on Quora was about what a miracle modern day Israel is. I mean how is it possible they beat back the combined power of 5 Arab countries after existing for only months in 1948. The history of that war defies any understanding. There is zero possibility that miracle(s) were not involved.

When I was younger I thought they won because the U.S. helped. **** no we didn't! The U.S. did all it could to sabatoge Israel. They won with an Airforce consisting of 4 cobbled together ME-109s that the Germans left behind in Czechoslovakia! Most of their weapons had German swastikas stamped on them. How's that for irony!

Sorry, I got carried away, that history bit always gets me going.

Would the Palestinians be included in the anti thing or are only Jews discriminated against.

@RABEL222,
Excellent point. I have visited Israel two times, and have seen the discrimination forced against Palestinians. What angers me more is the US government's blindness towards the Palestinians who do not live in freedom and call Israel a democracy. Nothing is further from the truth. It's the walls and the green license plates required for Palestinians. No other democracy in this world has such discriminatory regulations against its citizens.

@RABEL222,
Of course Jews are not the only people discriminated against. Yes, Palestinians are as well. It's wrong when it happens to them, too. Why would you ever think I would not find something like that to be wrong?

@Leadfoot,
You mean like banging on about Israel the first time you meet someone Jewish.

This is what your post reminded me of.

@jespah,
I understand discrimination too well, because I have lived it being of Japanese descent in this country. We suffered most before, during and right aftter WWII. Lucky for us Japanese in America, it's been neutral for us for many decades after WWII, but not for other minorities. Blacks have had it the worse in this country. With Trump at the helm, discrimination is practiced against Muslims and Mexicans. Trump's ban on Muslim countries to enter the USA is a blatant practice of bigotry. Why doesn't more people defend the US Constitution on the freedom of religion? Trump called Mexicans "criminals and rapists." Why do Americans allow Trump such latitude in his discrimination? He should be challenged every day by those who consider themselves true Americans. This is supposed to be the land of equality. If we don't defend it, bigotry wins.

@Leadfoot,
I don't know what you're talking about, or what it is supposed to mean. I don't wish to talk about any race of people as if they're a commodity which is what you seem to want to do.

The Jews were expelled from Palestine more than 1800 years ago. (It was called Paletine--the Roman province was called Syria Palaestina at the time of the expulsion of the Jews.) It is historically simple-minded to think that anyone who lived there was ipso facto a Jew.

If you’re not a Bible thumping Godbotherer, you probably don’t know that 'Israel' is not the name of a country, it refers to the Jews themselves.

The christians may think so--people familiar with the history of Israel and Palestine, as well as Jewish tradition know that there were always at least two kingdoms. Those were the kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of Judah. You really don't want to start a pissing contest with me about history or geography. You'd be showing up at a gun fight with a stick in your hand.

@Setanta,
I’ve determined you are not willing or capable of arguing theology.
But why would you be? And I’m not interested in arguing much else.

And don’t give me your 'that's off-topic' spiel. You are as guilty of going off topic as anyone. Not that I mind off topic diversions. They are usually more interesting than the main thread. Except when they are idiotic name calling rants.

@Leadfoot,
Typical whining--there has been no name-calling. If you ever see any, report the post. At the least, the post will get pulled. Theology has nothing to do with the kingdoms of the people we call the Jews. There were four kingdoms there--the kingdom of Edom in what we would call northwest Arabia was probably not Jewish, although the people were Semites. The kingdom of Aram was Semitic, and the people of the Hellenistic world considered them to be Jews. The narrow and poorly-informed views of christians have nothing to do with any of this. The people of the middle east who did not speak Koine Greek spoke Aramaic, and the Aramaeans spread confessional Judaism, and later, Nestorian christianity right across Asia, all the way to China. They were responsible for establishing confessional Judaism in Arabia, which accounts for the heavy influence of the bobble on the Quran. Having further spread Nestorian christianity accounts for the much greater amount of material about the putative mother of your boy Jeebus in the Quran. There is an entire sura, or chapter devoted to Mary. The one thing one can usually count on with christians is their invincible and arrogant ignorance.
