@electronicmail,
Do you mean that the dispute is about power games in the B of Eds?

I've been saying all along that it has nothing to do with the kids? It would be a disaster if it had.

@spendius,
Imho it wouldn't matter if the TX Board of Ed issued textbooks saying the Moon is made of green cheese and our current president is a Martian. The TX public school students can't read and won't learn.

@electronicmail,
By heck em. That's pretty dire considering all this noise we are getting from adults. I wonder if the rackets the adults are running has anything to do with the situation you describe so incisively.

Are you saying that TX public schools are a child-minding operation? Simply taking them off the hands of their moms and dads for a spell in return for cash. No wonder Mr Obama wants to extend the school year. That's like wanting to sell more gas. I suppose most of the 3.2 million teachers are Obama supporters. (I saw that figure on CBS News).

@spendius,
I assume you know em that Thorstein Veblen wrote a book explaining the business model for American education. I can't imagine "snowball earth" being referred to in that. Or Charles Darwin.

In England we tend to like Texans. All the cowboy movies--you know. And Dallas. They have style.

@electronicmail,
Id expect that kind of shithead view from a teabagger. Are you a teabagger? You sound like one, a conservative on acid.

@farmerman,
Take no notice em. fm is a scientist don't you know? That's how they argue? It's a method that makes sure they win every dispute to their own satisfaction.

@farmerman,
Where did you get the idea the Tea Party is opposed to science?

The opposite is true. Kinda jumpy, are we?

So, the tea party senatorial candidate in Delaware who is calling for creationism to be taught in science classes is demonstrating her support for science?

@electronicmail,
obviously you hvent been reading the bullshit of the candidates themselves. Rand Paul wants ID taught with Evolution, Christine Odonnell wants Creationism taught in SCIENCE CLASSES.

@Setanta,
I'm not a Delaware voter but I kinda think sending Joe Biden to the Senate tested the bottom in Delaware representation and O'Donnell can't be any worse.

@farmerman,
I know the Texas school board, OK? You don't. They're scary.

The teachers' union goofed big time in trying to lump "creationism" with "global warming denial" and "Heather has two mommies". I can't believe we're arguing about evolution but I can see the other two ain't open-and-shut. It was a mistake to fight for all of these at the same time. I don't hold with religion being taught at taxpayers' expense and I don't know anybody who does.

@electronicmail,
So then, should your above statement about the Teabaggers be modified to include a qualifier that states that you really dont read much about what the teabaggers espouse as their various creeds?

@electronicmail,
This response has absolutely no relevance to the false contention on your part to the effect: "Where did you get the idea the Tea Party is opposed to science? The opposite is true"--which is why both FM and i brought up O'Donnell. You were peddling bullshit, and you're being called on it.

@farmerman,
I'm modifying nothing. YOU modify YOUR misconception that either Rand Paul or Ms. O'Donnell are official spokespersons for the Tea Party. They speak for themselves.

@electronicmail,
O'Donnell claims to speak for the tea party. At a rally she talked about how tea party members are referred to as lunatics. She proclaimed that she thinks of tea party members as "we the people."

Can you provide a reliable source for this impression of yours? Where did she say what when? I follow Tea Party candidates in all states and I never heard any of them claim to be an exclusive spokesman.

What a fuckin' tool . . . Wandel did not say that Miss O'Donnell claims to be an "exclusive" spokesman.
