Rent a car, stock with gas, hiking gear and snokling equipment. The interior of the island is very rural. Don't count of finding a gas station or restaurant away from the coast. Go into Waimea Canyon either on foot or by car. http://www.hawaiiweb.com/Kauai/html/sites/waimea_canyon.html Be sure to look up a lot. Kauai is one of the rainiest spots on earth and you can see waterfalls coming off the mountain as you are driving along. Hit the snorkling beaches. http://www.kauaiexplorer.com/guides/kauai_snorkeling.php. Plan on relaxing a lot.
Yup. By this time next week, I will be on a plane to Hawaii!
I'm pretty excited. Actually, excited doesn't sound strong enough - I don't know what I am, but I'm ready to get the hell out of here and go get married!

I've read several opinions on A2K about what you are so you should have a good idea on that question. But as to your marriage trip next week, I hope you have a good time. Enjoy yourselves. Post pictures. lol
Cycloptichorn: Congratulations! Getting married and being married to the one you cherish (and who cherishes you in return) will be so great that you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner!

English Translation
Here I am waiting
Where is my beloved
I've searched for you
Now that I've found you
Calm the desire of my heart
Sealed forever to you
Sweetheart you are so precious
I pledge my love to you alone
I desire you (desire)
True to you alone (alone)
With you joy will ever be mine
You're mine (you're mine)
Oh, my lei (Oh, lei)
You`re mine, my lei
Fond remembrance of the one who came
My fragrant lei
Drenched in the rain
Listen you, my heart's desire
To the thought within me
Open the heaven within my body
My flower, my fragrant lei
I will string and bind
Like the fragrant jasmine flower
You are my blossom (you, my blossom)
My lei of lehua (lehua)
My desire is always to be with and close
To my love
My lei (my lei)
You're mine
My lei, you're mine
Hawaiian Wedding Song By Elvis Presley
This is the moment
I've waited for
I can hear my heart singing
Soon bells will be ringing
This is the moment
Of sweet Aloha
I will love you longer than forever
Promise me that you will leave me never
Here and now dear,
All my love,
I vow dear
Promise me that you will leave me never
I will love you longer than forever
U-a, si-la
Pa-a ia me o-e
Ko a-lo-ha ma-ka-mea e i-po
Ka-'u ia e le-i a-e ne-i la
Now that we are one
Clouds won't hide the sun
Blue skies of Hawaii smile
On this, our wedding day
I do love you with all my heart

CYCLOPS!!!
congratu - dang - lations!!!
I was stationed at Tripler on Oahu for 3+ years. Only flew over Maui, so don't know much, 'cept for its about the most coveted location of all the islands for its beauty. Hawaii turned out to be a fantabulous place to visit, if you know what I mean (very expensive to live there, and a lot of unexpected politics/racial animus between the Japanese and everyone else)... For the several days you are there, it should be a BLAST!!
I know very little about marriage, either. Just married for 2 years this coming July 7th. I know its better to be friends before you become intimate - me and Cheryl both married our best friends. I know its better not to go to sleep with an argument being the last thing you say to each other. I know our home is best kept as a sanctuary from the craziness of work and career rather than an extension of it.
Sending my absolute best to you and your lovely bride. What is the date?
We will be in Hawai'i from June 29th to July 13th, and visiting the islands of Maui, Kauai, and Oahu for two days at the end. At this point we have about 18 guests coming to the wedding, which frankly is a relief - every time I think about inviting someone else, all I see is another mouth to feed. Receptions are aspensive!
Outfits are picked out. Rings purchased (hers has a pearl and a couple of diamonds, mine is Titanium), flowers are picked out, cake picked out, officiant picked out (I wanted a big fat Hawaiian guy, and our wedding coordinator hooked us up with one -http://www.alapaki.net/).
I'm starting to get pretty excited. It's only 6 weeks now until the wedding date, heck 5 weeks until we leave. Still a lot to do between now and then.
Decisions still to be made that I would appreciate any and all input on -
What to do in Kauai on the honeymoon?
Where to stay in Waikiki?
Whether to have a guitar player or a harpist at the wedding?
Restaurants that we HAVE to go to, locals' favorites etc.
Gifts for groomsmen and the officiant?
Gifts for our mothers?
Gift baskets for guests?

July 3rd, and thanks! We've been dating 5 years or so and living together for 3, so I guess you could say that we are pretty good friends.
I'm a little overwhelmed right now with all the last minute details, and trying to focus on our end-of-fiscal-year books here at work. I don't think it will really feel real until we get on the plane. Whew.
