I think I'm beginning to have erectile dysfunction.

I'm 45 and in reasonble good health. I work out and do cardio exercises. My most recent blood pressure is 126/81. I'm 5'-9" tall and weigh 179 lbs. My doc said I'm 5 pounds overweight.

I'm having trouble getting my penis to erect when I am initimate with my wife and start having sex. I am able to get myself erected when I'm inside her but it suddenly goes limp.

With the exeption of drugs what type of foods or herbs I can take to solve this problem?

@Jeremiah,
A few quick (perhaps obvious ...to some) questions.
Do you drink alcohol more than a few times per week? How much do you drink when you do drink?
How stressed out do you feel most of the time?
How much sleep do you get? Is it continuous, restful sleep?
Are you a "worrier"?

@Ragman,
I never drink alcohol and I don't smoke.
I do feel stressed sometimes but I feel my exercises relieves my stress.
With two young kids I'm lucky to sleep 8 hours a night. My 3 year old gives me the most trouble. She doesn't sleep until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning! I blame that to my wife because she sleeps about that time. And my 3 year old can't fall asleep without my wife beside her. I usually sleep 5-7 hours a night.
I "worry" when I think about my work.

@Jeremiah,
Exercise is apparently NOT relieving your distress.
Also for some people, sometimes people who intensely exercise, it can increase more stress. While you suffer this dysfunctionality, back off the on the intensity level of your exercise routine.

Apparently, judging from your past posting history, you have quite a bit of dis-tress in your life BESIDE that which you wrote about. You posted having been $29,000 in credit card debt. You're an older Dad (42) of a young child and other young kids around 10 yrs of age. Also, your wife has chosen to allow the child to seelp in your bed fairly often? Think there's alot of reason for stress and dis-tress here. That kind of dis-tress can be the cause of dis-ease.

Viagra is one way of assisting with the misguided muscle (erection) problem. If you are against using a popular perscription like this one, then be aware that no herbal remedy has been proven reliable or useful.

@Jeremiah,
Have your blood glucose and A1C been measure to rule out diabetes or even pre-diabetes?

Erectile dysfunction can result from a diabetic condition.

@Jeremiah,
Why is it a problem?

You could take up drinking and smoking.

@Jeremiah,
Have you tried a cockring?

You can get some that are really soft plastic that help you to keep the blood in your penis and they are safe to use during intercourse .

@shewolfnm,
Is that right She?

Sheesh!!

I always thought that the honkers pressing on the windscreen when taking a deep breath did the job.

@Jeremiah,
You should probably have your testosterone level checked, just to rule that out as a cause. It would be frustrating to try to apply psychology to relieve a physically based problem.

@Brandon9000,
It's the frustration that makes it interesting.
