Dag, I'd also noticed that it was "HomEsexuality" that we were supposed to be discussing here, not HomOsexuality", according to the topic heqadline--is Homesexuality the opposite of doing it in the back seat of your father's Chevy?

OK PQ I'm going to give this another shot.

Now . . .

homosexual behavior has been around a hell of a lot longer than Christianity - in animal kind and human kind.

Now . . .

i've never heard a homosexual tell a Christian that he couldn't be a Christian because they were'nt homosexual.

So . . . how can a Christian tell a homosexual they can't be Christian because they are homosexual.

Whatdaya say about that??????

And Gus, what are those things in that bird's beak? homys or christys.

religion is propoganda, enough said.

lets focus on matters that really matter.

homosexuality doesnt affect your life at all, unless you let it.

if christians are true to their word they would not care about homosexuals, that includes jesus, god whatever.

god created man in his own image, does that mean god is gay some times too?

or is the bible perpetuating a falsehood, thereby negating the entire thing in the first place?

hello.
I've covered a youth speech on homosexuality at one time (years ago) & would have loved to share it with you- if only I could find the notes I prepared for it! Hah.
But even without the notes, I can say a few things that should help.
There are many places in the Bible that directly approach homosexuality.
Take Romans 1:24-28 for example:

"24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator?-who is forever praised.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

This verse alone describes homosexuality as a "pervesion", "shameful lust", "unnatural relation", and an "indecent act"
That, for some people, would be enough proof.

But still.
Some claim that the Bible doesn't exactly say homosexuality is wrong.
I have no idea why some people would say this when there are so many references to it, but just in case, read this: http://www.faithfacts.org/christ-and-the-culture/gay-rights

It has many more verses and explains the common mistake in thinking that a homosexual is born that way & that is is supposedly only love.

God Bless.

So . . . how can a Christian tell a homosexual they can't be Christian because they are homosexual.
Quote:

A homosexual wouldn't tell a Christian they couldn't be a Christian because they weren't homosexual, because the Bible doesn't say that. The Bible does say (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) that they as well as others will not obtain the kingdom of God though. That being said...there is not a one who claims to be a Christian that is worthy to make it into the kingdom of God on their own merit. I am pretty sure we all lie at some time, that we idolize things other than God, that we have adulterous thoughts. So that being said...no one can make it to the kingdom. So, to answer your question Sglass...no Christian should ever tell a homosexual they cannot be a Christian. Otherwise, there is no hope for me...a liar, and idolater, adulterer...etc...because that would mean that I cannot be a Christian either. Because as hard as I try I still do bad things. Can't help it. But God made provision for that...anyone can be called a Christian and can follow Christ if they choose to (John 3:16).

I, as a believer, am also charged not to judge. I do not know the heart of people. Only God can know - So if someone chooses to be a homosexual - I would not judge them - just as I would hope they would not judge me for being a liar, or a idolater or anyother number of things that I do wrong on a daily basis. But I am charged to love them. I am to love my neighbor as I love myself. I hope that I do, and do it well.

Now, that being said...the Bible opens up a lot of bad feelings for those who do not believe in Christ. But I would expect that that would be no different than the Koran and some of it's contents upsetting me in some respects. Not that I am upset by it - I just don't expect people who believe differently to always agree with Scripture. That is up to them to decide. I will not judge them for it. But I will love them as a sister should, as Christ gave example.

So - that is my long drawn out explanation for my thoughts from a Christian's perspective. Brevity has never been one of my gifts. Sorry

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy 1:8-11
8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers?-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

John 3:16
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Ooops, yes that was a typo in the title.
Some interesting responses.
I think I'm going to post this thread again under the Spirituality and Religion board. I did originally intend this, but i must have been tired last night.
Maybe I'll make the thread slightly more aggressive to force some christian opinions. Cool
