Neither party is racist, but there are racists in both parties.
Well . . . at least one person said something sensible in this thread.
yup.
not to mention racists come in all colors.
We have it from no less an authority than Dr Jeremiah Wright that blacks can't be racist because they don't control the institutions of power. Apparently only those in the majority can be racist. In fact, to do so he throws the term 'racism' out in favor of the term 'white supremacy' . (Apparently that will make black racism go away, if there is no term to describe it. Sound familiar to anyone?)
...
i've heard that before. but i don't really buy it, because it's a flimsy outlook based solely on the black/white dynamic in america.
there's a lot of different kinds of people in the world. it's silly to think that white americans are the only ones that have any racial prejudice despite evidence to the contrary.
I agree with you. My point is that Obama was taught the opposite for 20 years and brought his kids along for the ride.
Many Americans are ga-ga over a guy whose POV has been shaped by the idea that only whites are racists.
Indeed, his view of the 'typical white person' (by his own admission) is embodied in his white grandmother making racist statements 'that made me cringe'.
His minister, Jeremiah Wright , wanted to replace the term 'racism' with 'white supremacy' to get away from the concept that anyone except whites could be racist.
It's kind of a 1984 way of approaching language. Get rid of some troubling words so that the concepts they represent can't be discussed, debated or thought about.
