Susan would rather watch a movie than a pirated DVD at home.
Susan prefers watching a movie than (watching) a pirated DVD at home.
Is 'watching' optional?
Thanks in advance.
It is required the first time you used it in your second sentence--the second use would be optional.
You don't make very clear what you want in the questions you post, you need to make it obvious what you are asking.
The title of this thread is absolutely meaningless.
