Hey Izzie...so hope you're having a wonderful time.
If you're taking the Cherokee Turnpike out of Tulsa, it is decent scenery the whole way but not much else to see or do until you get to
SPRINGDALE ARKANSAS where there are a couple of points of interest as you'll see from the link. The little antique mall there used to be really good. Not sure what it is like now. I'm thinking it is like 2 hours from Tulsa? Can't remember for sure.
If you take Hwy 412 (I think) instead of the Turnpike, it will be a lot slower but you'll pass through several little burgs that will probably at least have a place to buy a soft drink.
You'll love Beaver Lake. Clear as tap water and absolutely beautiful. Last time we were there the guys were fascinated by the friendly little fish that came up and nibbled at the hair on their legs.
One thing to think about while you're in the great outdoors in Arkansas though, be sure to pick up a decent insect repellant.....I think OFF works or store personnel can recommend something. Arkansas has had quite a bit of rain so a mosquito or two may be about, and Arkansas also has a wonderful little bug called a chigger--so small you can barely see it, but itches like crazy if it latches onto you. (Relatively harmless otherwise tho.) No big worries or anything but better not to have a pesky itch than to have one--especially if you run into a whole mess of them.
Just checked the weather and it looks great for next week. Little or no rain in the forecast - 60s at night and mid 80s in the daytime which is good if you want to swim or canoe. Enjoy!
(I envy those who are going to get to meet you on this trip.)
