zen of driving

Yes ma'am . I absolutely understand that.

Road trip for me is wonderful, relaxing therapy. Something I used to treat myself to a lot.

ice chest? (when I first moved here and didn't have my refrigerator yet, it being in the very back of the storage unit, I used D & D's small patio fridge (it was winter) and one of those styrofoam ice chests. Bought ice every two days. Grrrrrr,)

water water

mrs. hamburger freezes water in giant baggies - once they've finished doing their cooling work, they're great for other purposes

something we used to do years ago for trips - wet wash cloth with a hotel bar of soap in a small baggie - easy to carry in your bag/pocket when you go into a washroom of dubious quality

check... check.. and.. never thought of that!

Ice chest. Yup. Same one we had before.

Freezing gallon baggies of water. (ziplocks) Right on. That will save on ice.
I can fill that chest half way with baggies.

Washcloths + baby wipes. Yup.

Cant think of food to cook that keeps for 2 or 3 days though.
Not that it is a big issue. It is just me and Bean. I can share 1/2 what ever I eat with her and we are fine.

(since I'm a grown-up person with an aversion to heat, I tend to keep that washcloth/soap-in-a-baggie on ice - I like to be able to cool my fevered brow - I just lay the whole baggie on my head - faux ice pack - keeps the washcloth clean til I need it as a washcloth)

I don't know if places still sell them, but there used to be washcloths kinda sewn up the sides so the soap could be carried inside ... last saw them at a dollar store a coupla years ago ... then again I bought errmmm a few so I haven't looked for more.

Cant say that I have seen those.. but that sounds like a wonderful idea.

But a pocket is nothing I cant stitch together myself in a few minutes.
2 wash clothes, sew them together to accommodate the soap..

Hmm.. that is a wonderful idea..

Do you ever make mixed root veggie latkes? they're tasty cold - take some apple sauce along as a side

carrots, juice, apple sauce, veggie latkes

one summer our team of field ecologists just about lived on that combo

we just bought yogurt fresh every coupla days (which also went well with our latkes)

I think the idea of those sewn-up washcloths (originally) was that it was easier for kids to put their hands inside and wash themselves. So, one washcloth per person/mini soap.

I first saw them about 40 years ago in Germany. It took them about 30 years to get to Canada by way of China Confused

Ya know...

now that I have thought about it, I have seen them.
Though they are more styled like a mitt.. with slots for fingers, soap pocket, etc..

I have one that I used to use on Jillian when she was a baby.. It has little faces with hair tufts on the finger tips.

Cant seem to find a photo of them though. (wrong key words)

cute example

on that one, if it were like the one I have, you would put the soap bar inside the frogs mouth, and it would stay in the little pocket.

they really are cute.

anyway, yes . that is a great idea.

I need to get to freezing those bags..

If you'd started a couple of days ago, you could have knit your own soap sack out of sisal ... who knew ... I think the dollar store ones were fine.

~~~
You certainly wouldn't have too many p**p stops on that truck drivers' menu. The first 3 items are guaranteed plugs Confused
ohhhh. those look nice.
I have a rather picky idea of what soap is ok to use. Generally I wont use hotel soap. Not for anything.
We stayed at super 8 our last go round and I had no soap , but did not realize it until I was in the shower. Used theirs. Loved it.
Ginger+lemon grass.. Totally impressed.
Took about 4 extra Cool
