Is massage by a licensed person helpful for improving health and fitness?
Only if said massage includes one happy ending.
Ignore him, gollum.
Yes, massage can be very beneficial. For instance, I have scoliosis that has resulted in two collapsed disks in my lower back. Thanks to biweekly massages, I very rarely have to take pain medication. The regular massages keep the muscles from getting too tight and making the situation worse. I go to a nationally-accredited masseuse who gets most of her referrals from doctors.
There are many benefits. Find someone who has the right touch for you (some are much firmer than others) and who has a good understanding of anatomy.
I believe a good massage is helpful for both mind and body. But one must be sure that the person doing the massage is licensed and that the environment is clean and safe.
