Can I describe a word which is no longer commonly used as 'old-fashioned'?
Many thanks.
I guess you could. The word I prefer is outdated.
Everything depends on context. "Old-fashioned" and "dated" are terms with different flavors.

Or obsolete.
I like "old-fashioned", there's nothing wrong with using that.
I think there's a time factor -- "old-fashioned" if your grandparents used the word but it has not been common lately; and "archaic" if people hundreds of years ago used it. "Dated": or "outdated" maybe if your parents used the word but nowadays people say it differently.
I picked up ome phrases and sayings from my father that hardly anyone uses these days. People give me a look and say "Well, that dates you!" I rather like it.
