New and old are to be found all over the town - that's at least my impression after having done some walking around in the rain breaks ...

The plaza's main attraction on that day seemed to have been the covered parking meters - and the offered two hours 'free parking'

You remember the painting on the wall on the cafe?

It pictures the San Francisco de Asis Church, Ranchos de Taos

Although I'd been ther two years ago - I went there again this time (it was on my way)

I wanted to include a photo I found on Google showing the kitchen in the hacienda. Walking through all the rooms gives a clear idea of the living conditions of the early 1800's. It is well worth the time to go out of your way to tour this bit of history if you are in the Taos area.

Sorry for the interruption Walter, but I found the hacienda one of the most intersting places in and near Taos.

Ha! I should have known you would have taken a photo and yours is just as good. Actually, I like the natural, slanting light in your photo.

In all the rooms, various exhibitions are displayed - besides others some really good and interesting (not only Christian) art from the the Spanish colonial times and afterwards

One of the great experience, especially for non-Catholics, is to visit a pilgrimage church.

And if you do such in an Italian or Spanish speaking .... or especially in the Americas, it's even more interesting.

So I went to ...

Embarrassed , wrong photo, I went to ...

... to El Santuario de Chimayo.
[Again: no photos inside ...]
