I read some of the other thread and, might I add, I dont agree with the admonition to BAIL . If you do, I beleive youll be living with some guilt that will maybe eat you up later. If you give it several honest tries and target your old man first (hes the guy holding the key IMHO). He needs to be brought in line so that hes able to see that all hes doing is destroying his wifes remaining life and is severely truncating it.

You sound like one good kid and care deeply for both your folks. I think theve hit on the dysfunctional traits , but Im gonna suggest that you look at this like a "pickup sticks "uzzle, see where the first interlock lies . (Ill bet its your old man , and your mom is just displaying symptomology of a deeper family problem.)
