Andrew is proudly displaying / showcasing the medal that he has won at the competition.

Which word in bold should be used?

It would depend on the context of how the medal is being shown.

"Showcasing" usually indicates a public showing where the medal would be highlighted as the central feature.

"Displaying" could also cover that but it could be as simple as putting the medal on a table or bookshelf in public view.

I would use "displaying" in most cases.
