Obama didn't disavow his half brother.

He will though, just wait and see. I wonder how long it will be before he disavows his VP pick after choosing one?

So you know he got up caught up for a brief time in Islam and just went through the motions and that is the truth Obama should acknowledge? Rolling Eyes

Apparently this newest thing started with two lines from his half brother which is even unclear what he meant and is now impossible to find the original artcle by all accounts.

Quote:
"if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background."

source

If he was a Muslim there is no way he would have gotten as far as he has. It's an ugly truth but there it is. So far all we know is that he attended an Islamic school which had people of other religions, traditions in attendance for 'a brief while'.

http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/christian

Listen to the video about the school if interested. It could be this is the "muslim background" Obama's half brother is referring to.

His father was muslim, his step-father was a muslim He went to an Islamic school (this acknowledged by you). Safer to assume he had a brief brush with Islam than that he's always maintained a vasty distance.

Since he also has tried to get us t believe that he didn't ever hear Rev Wright spout outrageous, it's also safe to assume he has a problem being forthright.

Just as soon as the person embarasses him. If Obama learned one thing from the Pastor Disaster it was you can't be too quick to throw associates, friends, advisors, and spiritual mentors under the bus.

It's an approach that is very effective when you have the Media in your back pocket:

"Yeah the guy is a dirtbag, but that's not the guy I knew! In any case, I disavow him, so case closed"

When you can rely on CNN anchors to scold spokespersons for your opponents when they fail to appreciate that the case is "really" closed, you have a heck of an advantage.

His father wasn't Muslim, actually -- agnostic.

And his step-father was Muslim but not very observant.

The Indonesian school he attended was a regular school -- not a madrassa -- in a majority-Muslim country (the way America is a majority-Christian country).

I don't think Obama has ever denied that he's had "brushes" with Islam; he denies that he is himself Muslim. That seems to be an eminently reasonable stand.

Is it your contention that (Islamic) Indonesia has the same focus on seperation of church and state as (Christian) America?

Clearly he is not a Muslim and it is ridiculous to claim or suggest that he is.

It is, similarly, ridiculous to suggest that he isn't running away from any association, tangential or otherwise, with Islam.

I understand why he thinks he must. It's virtually the same reason why he thinks he must hold that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Only the ignorant believe that Islam is a religion of hate and death, but these ignorant folk get to vote and Obama is not about to tempt fate or their ire.

Whether he's a muslim or not is meaningless to me. Whether or not he's A-OK with same sex marriages is meaningless to me if I could believe it was a personal belief and not keeping in step with a political bent.

He is, in reality, nothing more than a skilled, slick politician.

Utterly amazing that we are faulting McCain for not being a polished orator while marveling at how God has annointed Obama with the gift of truth expressed through oratory (Didn't he do the same thing with Hitler and Mussolini?)

We (and most especially the Left) like to think ourselves immune from the influence of Madison Avenue, and yet so many are buying the Obama pitch.

Here are a couple of emails I recieved today concerning Obama. The first one is from an aquaintance of mine, a right-wing, military type who works at the Army base here in the a**hole o'. The second one is from a retired Chicago area union member.

Obama's Not Exactly

PLEASE READ TO THE VERY END...... THE FACTS ARE ASTONISHING, NOT TO
MENTION STARTLING.

Obama's Not Exactly:
1.) Selma Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to
have
you in 1961 Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965.
(Google'Obama Selma ' for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles
about
its various untruths.)
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well
educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - NOT EXACTLY, he was part of
one
of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.
4) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT EXACTLY, your
cousin
Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a
legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya . It is the first widespread
violence
in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to
overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo
Obama, is Odinga's follower.
You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on
the
phone. Check out the following link for verification of that....and for
more.Obama's cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get
Sharia muslim law in place there.
When Odinga lost the elections, his followers burned Christians' homes
and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church
where
they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election
process
here started.
Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get.

5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - NOT EXACTLY, she does
her
daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to
Mention that no Christian religion would allow her to have been one of
14
wives to 1 man.
6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and
'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language.
Hussein
is also Arabic and so is Obama.Barack Hussein Obama is not half black.
If
elected, Obama would be the first Arab-American President, not the first
black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his
mother's
side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side.

While Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya , his father's
family
was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African
Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate even states he's
Arab, not African Negro).
7.) I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at
school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31
years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for
office.4-3-08
Article 'Obama was 'quite religious.'
8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian -NOT EXACTLY, you were
registered
as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces
(check your own book). February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York
Times
a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to
prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent.
In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama
voters
heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as 'one of the
prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.'
This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says
'Obama's narrative is being altered, enhanced and
manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you
could speak the language.
10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia , I Have More Foreign Experience -
NOT
EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even
speak
the language.
What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.
11.) I 'm Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa
(surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been
anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our
closest
allies.
12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - NOT EXACTLY, you
were
quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and
no
mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just
fine.
13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - NOT EXACTLY, Ebony
has
yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never
did,
exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - NOT EXACTLY,
Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't,
and
never did, exist.
15.) I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - NOT EXACTLY, here you
are,
Despite saying live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by
then, and you are all about having experience first.
16.) Voting 'Present' is Common In Illinois Senate - NOT EXACTLY, they
are
common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.
17.) Oops, I Misvoted - NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups
and
Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.
18.) I Was A Professor Of Law -NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer
ON
LEAVE.
19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior
lecturer
ON LEAVE.
20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - NOT EXACTLY, you didn't
write it, introduce it, change it, or create it.
21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14
days
from start to finish.
22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - NOT EXACTLY, your bill was reject ed
by
your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly
because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.
23.) I Have Released My State Records - NOT EXACTLY, as of March,
2008,
state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing
all the special interests pork hidden within.
24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - NOT EXACTLY, you were
part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens. You failed
to
mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.
25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America - NOT EXACTLY, your 111
economic
policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even
YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - NOT EXACTLY, even your own
Supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) We passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year - NOT EXACTLY, they were
not
YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow
Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA - NOT EXACTLY,
the
Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your
campaign had with them.
29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - NOT EXACTLY, you missed the Iran
Resolution
vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the
destruction of Israel.
30.) I Want All Votes To Count - NOT EXACTLY, you said let the
delegates
decide.
31.) I Want Americans To Decide - NOT EXACTLY, you prefer caucuses that
limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only
operate
during small windows of time.
32.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate - NOT EXACTLY, you passed
26,
most of which you didn't write yourself.
33.) I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics - NOT EXACTLY, you used
mafia-like
tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.
34.) I Don't Take PAC Money - NOT EXACTLY, you take loads of it.
35.) I don't Have Lobbysists - NOT EXACTLY, you have over 47 lobbyists,
and counting. 36.) My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad - NOT
EXACTLY, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one
afternoon.
37.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq - NOT EXACTLY, you
weren't in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it
every
single time.
38.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care - NOT EXACTLY, your
Plan leaves the rest of us to pay for the 15,000,000 who won't have to
buy
it.

From TDC;
I am disgusted at his lies. EXACTLY!
I cannot understand why any thinking adult would support this phony.
EXACTLY.
If he is elected, our beloved America will be in deep doo-doo. EXACTLY!

Think you know who this man is?

This possible President of the United States?? Read Below and ask yourselves, is this REALLY someone we can see as the President of our great nation!!!!

Below are a few lines from Obama's books; In his words!

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And FINALLY the Most Damming one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

* If you have never forwarded an e-mail, now is the time to Do so!!!! We CANNOT have someone with this type of mentality running our GREAT nation!! I don't care whether you a Democrat or a Conservative. We CANNOT turn ourselves over to this type of character in a President. PLEASE help spread the word!

Purely phony and political accusations designed to create false issues and ignore real issues. Frame a stupid debate. Accuse Obama of being a Muslim and accuse Obama's Christian pastor and Christian church at the same time. Heads Obama's accusers win and tails Obama loses. Meanwhile most Americans are sick of this kind of thing and are turning to Obama in droves.

Sure Good Ole Dys, but I've been burned before by betting with you welching Liberals (see Cyclopto and our bet on the FL and MI delegates), so let's get the bet crystal clear so as to avoid Liberal weasle moves later.

3% of what?

BTW - I'm sure we can arrange to prove sending $100 to a charity rather than george --- we'll figure it out once I can pin you down to an actual wager.

Somehow I don't think you will, but we shall see.

In 2000, Gore beat Bush in the popular vote by a scant 0.5%

You are wagering Obama will beat McCain by 3.0%

I confess that I am unable to calculate whether or not a candidate can win the office via the Electoral College and still lose the popular vote by 3% or more. My sense is that it cannot be done, but I am not certain.

In any case I'll take your bet . (Done - Mark it SOLD)

I, frankly, trust you not to welch so I don't think we need get into hyper-definitions of the wager.

I don't think we need anyone to hold the $200 and deprive us of its meager float. If either of us welch the other can have great fun nailing the welcher.

If you win, I will be happy to send you a check for $100

If I win, I will expect you to donate $100 to the charity/cause of my choice. A reciept (electronic or otherwise will be required).

Agreed?

There were none. There were the original terms you offered, but none to which we agreed.

I trust you not to welch and I insist that you trust the same of me.

Again, I'm happy to pay you the $100 if I lose, I merely want you to agree that if I win, you will donate $100 to the charity/cause of my choosing and produce a reciept to verify that you have.

Is this really going to cause you to withdraw?

Insistence on arbitrary terms is but another manifestation of welching, but I'm not going to let you off the hook.

I suspect I can afford to float $100 more than you can but if you're OK with it, who am I to quibble.?

I trust george completely.

Send your money to him and when he PM's me with name and address I'll do the same.

When I win, I will ask george to donate $100 to the charity/cause of my choice under your real name (which I assume he wil have if you send him a legitmate check).

God, you Liberals are weasels when it comes to betting.

I am left with little choice but to agree here, and feel compelled by a sense of fair play to assist in the virtual leg breaking. I am confident that Dys, Georgeob1… even Joefromchicago and every other reasonably rational thinker/gambler would agree. You should post a link to that original wager, Finn.
