The Wright thing - how much effect will it have on Obama 08?

Thanks - I missed your second post, but am glad to see your candor on this.

Hard to tell what might be motivating Wright - your "extend his moment in the sun" point may well be it. I have also wondered if he is not just resentful about the new spirit Obama is presenting with rspect to Black - White relations. There is perhaps a generational thing at work here - Wright, and Jesse Jackson and other like leaders grew up and were formed in a different age 1950-1970. A great deal has changed since then, and new generations of Blacks and Whites are arising that have largely had a very different formative experience than their parents. Wright is retiring from a powerful ministry right now, and that has its own, sometimes profound, psychological effects on one facing such an experience. I have wondered if he is not merely angry, thinking of himself, not Obama, and the power that is slipping away from him.
