Heaven forbid, that those who constantly bash the admin and piss on any attempts to make things better for folks be asked to back up their comments, explain the logic behind them, or are questioned in any way; why, that would get in the way of all the smug, self-righteous posts by folks whose political party has gotten it's ass kicked in the last two cycles for a combination of incompetence and downright idiocy.

One would think that if the solutions to life's problems were as obvious as some make it out here - tax cuts for everyone solves everything! Wars solve everything! Aggressive stances with foreign governments solve everything! - then Americans would be jumping up and down to elect those leaders who propose them. Why isn't that happening?

@McGentrix,
Well actuallyI don't write it for the benefit of those so fixed in their partisan views that they are incapable of seeing or acknowledging that the motives of their chosen leaders are sometimes not as pure as the driven snow and that their proposed solutions are having or are likely to have seriously negative consequences. My hope is that those who are still capable of thinking will stop and think and consider because I do not want to have to reap what some would sow on our behalf, nor do I wish that for my children and grandchildren.

But you don't give a rat's ass about other's children and grandchildren. You're more than content, in fact sometimes you seem downright pleased that other people's loved ones and possessions are bombed into oblivion.

Are these the MAC ideals that you hold so near your heart?

@McGentrix,
A huge chunk of a whole nation of whiners, "Oh they dared to attack us on our own soil!" is directly responsible for the deaths of, how many Iraqis and Afghans, McG?

Ridiculous.

The Dems are politicians just like the Republicans, and their motives certainly aren't as 'pure as the driven snow.' I don't know anyone who claims that they are. Appeal to Extremes.

You think their solutions will have 'negative consequences' in the exact same fashion as your opponents think YOUR solutions will have 'negative consequences.'

You certainly don't have a problem imposing YOUR solutions upon people's children and grandchildren.

The solution to our pickle? Get more people who represent you elected. From what I can tell based on your writing, there are exactly zero representatives who support your position. You have taken this to mean that our Congress and President are completely out of the mainstream; however, you ought to consider the fact that the opposite is true.

@Cycloptichorn,
Do you honestly think that the Dems will remain in power? Do you want the Republicans to run things as the Dems have been when they return to majority (and don't fool yourself into thinking they won't)?

Right now the Dems have a majority and they are not playing to the extremist left much to their chagrin. They realize that they are sowing the seeds of the future and should they lose that majority they will want to work in a bi-partisan fashion as they wish to now with things such as the health care bill. They could vote it in, and it would most likely pass despite a split vote, but that will come back to haunt them in the future.

We are fortunate that the blue dogs are holding the party in check.

@McGentrix,
McG, How will the democrats lose the majority in congress when a) conservatives voted against Sotomayor which translates into losing one of the largest growing voting blocks in the country; b) the conservatives don't provide solutions but just bitch; c) they lie about the health plan on 1) death panel, 2) abortions, and 3) no choice between private and public; and d) the leaders of the conservative party are Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Karl Rove, Cheney, and Sarah Palin.

i have never said he's perfect. but, i am willing to give the guy a chance to fix things.

you aren't. you never have been. you never will be.

you list government taking over everything under the sun. it may look that way to you and your peeps, but what i see, and even on bush's part (who i do believe sucked as president.), is positive actions taken to protect the country and it's people from a greater economic bottom drop. i actually care about what happens to American People, not just some pie in the sky philosophical view of what America is. at the end of the day, the constitution isn't going to feed a child that isn't eating right because his/her parents are layed off.

but to a crowd who sits there saying "do nothing" about nearly every topic, i'm sure that any kind of action by the government is the most horrible thing in the world.

the funny part about the whole "government is bad. government is the problem" thing is that politicians who keep pounding on that theme simply can't wait to get to washington and control the government. and control others.

the alternative is that they don't really want, or like going to washington, but that they will do for the money and lifelong healthcare they receive.

at tax payer's expense. how 'bout that? Shocked

Yup. And if history is any indicator of how democrats and republicans end up running our government, democrats do a much better job of helping all Americans as our economy continues to grow. From 2000 to 2008 under GW Bush, the middle class and the poor didn't even keep up with inflation while the rich got richer. The conservatives kept crying for tax cuts as our deficit ballooned to new highs. Since 2007 when the recession started, thousands began to lose their jobs and homes. Whoever wants a repeat of conservative control should have their heads examined.

@McGentrix,
You are fortunate, McG, that liberals fought to give you an equitable position vis a vis your employer or you'd now be working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no holidays for you and your family. You might well still be living in a company shack, and paying a horrendous rent, cashing your check at the company store to buy a bit of food, again at horrendous prices so your poor little skinny kids didn't starve.

But still you want more; well bend over and grease 'er up.

Why are you demanding to know if she ever criticized Bush?

YOU are the one that said that as long as you are thinking, thats all you need.

So, Fox is thinking, so she has no need to show you anything.

Unless of course, you are willing to show EVERY post you have ever made when someone questions you on a subject.

In other words, when your own words get thrown in your face, you instead attack others.

Since you were demanding Foxy show her posts, its only fair that you show yours upon demand also.

I would disagree.
You apparently have forgotten those on the left who claimed that the US would need thousands of bodybags because of how powerful Iraq was before Desert Storm.

You dont call that fear mongering?

I don't remember there being any serious opposition on the Left to Desert Storm whatsoever; and, even if there was, it certainly wasn't anywhere NEAR the level of duplicity offered by the previous Admin, and their repeated pattern of intentionally lying about every subject they could.

The Democrats will lose their congressional majorities if two things happen:
(1) Obama continues his current way of trying to sell his health care plan to the American people without specifying what it is.
(2) The Republicans repeatedly declare their intention to impeach Obama if they win congressional majorities in November 2010.
