Neither of what you posted are 'credible sources.' They are opinions of right-wingers. So, no. I won't.

***********************************************************************Here Cyclops shows that he is unable to rebut the data laid down by Foxfyre, so he attacks the messinger.

What Cyclops will not tell us is that if all used his criteria---Blah blah blah--NEITHER OF WHAT YOU POSTED ARE CREDIBLE SOURCES--blah blah blah, we would never read or comment on The New York Times, The Washington Post or the "Nation".

Cyclops thinks that only LEFT WING sources are acceptable. What an ignorant stance!!!

Are you sure an English only requirement for ALL immigrants isn't a really good idea?

News 8 Investigates: Airline mechanics who can't read English
10:03 AM CDT on Saturday, May 16, 2009
By BYRON HARRIS / WFAA-TV
News 8 has recently revealed serious flaws in the way the FAA licenses mechanics who fix planes.

There is evidence of years of problems in testing these mechanics. There is also evidence that hundreds of mechanics with questionable licenses are working on aircraft in Texas.

Now there is evidence of repair facilities hiring low-wage mechanics who can't read English.

Twenty-one people were killed when U.S. Airways Express Flight 5481 crashed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2003. The plane went wildly out of control on takeoff.

One reason for the crash, investigators found, was that mechanics incorrectly connected the cables to some of the plane's control surfaces in the repair shop. The FAA was cited for improper oversight of the repair process.
Repairing airplanes is a complicated business. Airplanes have many manuals. Typically, when mechanics repair a part, they open the manual, consult the book, and make the repair step-by-step, as if it were a recipe book.
They make a list of every action they take, so the next person to fix the plane (as well as the people who fly it) will know exactly what has been done.
If mechanics don't speak English, the international language of aviation, they can't read the manual and they can't record their activities.

Isn't government doing a great job with education?

Aspiring school teachers
fail in math

Only 27 percent of the teaching
candidates pass
Updated: Tuesday, 19 May 2009, 1:47 PM EDT
Bruce Morin
MALDEN, Mass. (WPRI) - According to state education officials, nearly three-quarters of the people who took the state elementary school teacher’s licensing exam this year failed the new math section.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the results Tuesday. They say that only 27 percent of the more than 600 candidates who took the test passed. The test was administered in March of this year.
The teacher’s licensing exam tested potential teachers on their knowledge of elementary school mathematics. This included geometry, statistics, and probability.
Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester was not surprised by the results. He told the Boston Globe that these results indicate many students are not receiving an adequate math education.
Tom Scott, executive director of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents , said "The high failure rate puts a shining light on a deficiency in teacher-prep programs."

I haven't figured out yet how we save the auto makers by closing dealerships, giving the unions twice the power, and make the cars more expensive and less safe. Also will people drive more if the fuel cost is less? Seems like the government is predicting behavior that is not historically credible.

Quote:
Obama takes aim at climate-warming car emissions
The plan was praised by automakers, environmentalists and an array of politicians, but it will mean higher price tags for consumers. The new program will add about $1,300 to the price of producing a vehicle.
Obama said car buyers would recoup the money with the lower fuel costs realized under more efficient mileage standards.

Safety could suffer if we boost mileage by making cars smaller

And what is this costing us? Since none or very few of the Senators or Congresspersons apparently read the stimulus package or the budget, I wonder how many have read this?

Quote:

Need for Speed (Read) to Pass Climate Bill
WASHINGTON -- Democrats in the House Energy and Commerce Committee have taken a novel precaution to head off Republican efforts to slow action this week on a sweeping climate bill. They are hiring a speed reader.

Republicans on the committee have said they may force the reading of the entire 946-page bill -- as well as major amendments that measure several hundred pages -- all aloud. This is a procedure lawmakers have a right to invoke. Republicans are largely against the bill, which aims to cut emissions of so-called greenhouse gases by more than 80% over the next half-century but would be costly.

Republicans haven't tried the tactic, but Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) is prepared.

A committee spokeswoman said the speed reader -- a young man who was on door duty at the hearing as he awaited a call to the microphone -- was hired to help staffers. After years of practice, the panel's clerks can read at a good clip. But the speed reader is a lot faster, she said.

The President may not have 100% backing of Congress for his stated Israel policy.

US Senators press Obama on 'risk' for Israel
18 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AFP) " A vast majority of US senators on Tuesday urged President Barack Obama to mind the "risks" to Israel in any Middle East peace accord as he presses for a two-state solution to the six-decade conflict.
"As we work closely with our democratic ally, Israel, we must take into account the risks it will face in any peace agreement," 76 of the 100 senators wrote Obama in a letter released to reporters.

@Foxfyre,
You're kidding yourself if you think there isn't fraud outside of our computerized systems.

You conservatives always use fear instead of solutions for the need of our country.

It gets tiresome.

@Woiyo9,
Did you listen to Steele's speech yesterday? It lacked any solution to the myriad of problems facing our country. All he did was contradict himself about Obama, and bitched about almost everything Obama has done in his first 100 days in office - with no alternative solutions.

And the dummy audience clapped as if he really had content in his speech.

What's new is obvious; the conservatives talk about new solutions, but don't offer any. That's the reason why they have become known as the "No Party."

Simpletons like you will never grasp it.

What do you mean, such as? See: those things which have already been passed by Obama and their approach to health care reform and closing gitmo (hopefully) and etc...

Versus, the Republicans' ideas on how to solve our modern issues: tax cuts for the rich and aggression against those who don't agree with us internationally. Every ******* time, those are the prescriptions by that side. It's gotten quite tired and old and you can see the effects that's had on Republicans' chances at the ballot box.

Yes, vs only the wealthy under republicans.

Did you gain under Bush since 2001 to 2008? If you did, you are in the minority. Most middle class and the poor didn't even keep up with inflation.

@cicerone imposter,
From PENNSTATE:
Quote:
Perhaps the biggest disconnect between the recently released statistics on poverty and current economic conditions is the recent rise in unemployment and the stagnation in family incomes. Over the years of 2000-2006, median family income did not change appreciably. In 2006, median family income was two percent below 2000. During the same period, earnings for men declined 3 percent while women experienced a 2.3 percent decline in their incomes. According to the Center for American Progress, even with the reported increase of 1.7 percent in median household income from 2006 to 2007, incomes are still .6 percent below the level of 2000.

I have gained under Democratic administrations and republican administrations.

Intelligent, educated and working individuals all gain over the long term since we understand the rules and take advantage of them.

Apparently, you have difficulty with understanding how to be successful and need Government help.

Woiyo-9, You are more ignorant than most on a2k. I have done (accomplished) more than many people assume. HINT: I have traveled to over 135 countries on vacation.

We own our home mortgage free (in one of the most expensive ZIP codes in Silicon Valley), we have two relatively new cars (mine: Acura; wife's Honda), we have money in the bank and retirement investments five times more than the average American, and our FICO score is 818.

I have worked in management for most of my professional career (30-years), and retired early.

Terrorists in Prison: is there anything the Right doesn't fear?

Glenn Greenwald points out another entry in the GOP Orwellian doublespeak manual: If the Democrats do not join the Republicans in crawling under our beds and quivering in fear at the prospect of imprisoning detainees in America, then the Democrats are WEAK.

@Debra Law,
The conservatives are good at "fear-mongering." I think it's less effective today than 9-11, but many conservatives still believes in their mantra of using fear - with their flock. They just don't realize how stupid they look when the follow the rhetoric of the Limbaugh's, Hannity's, Cheney's, Plains, Roves, and Boehners.

A laughing stock of comedians who doesn't know they are real jokers in this world of reality where hundreds of thousands of Americans are losing the jobs and homes every week; thanks to GW Bush and his gang.
