@mysteryman,
Since when is a weekend a vacation? I don't know too many people that consider it such.

I don't know of too many weekend visits Bush took to Crawford. I wouldn't have said anything about it if he did. Bush vacations at Crawford were for more than a weekend.

@Frank Apisa,
I can do even better than that. Sourcewatch.org has a whole list of articles from reputable newspapers, detailing how many days a year George "The War President" Bush took off of in Texas.

Go figure

Note that these articles only count the work days. The Obama "vacation" that's currently shocking Mysteryman is happening over a weekend.

77 trips to Crawford and 490 days. That doesn't sound like he went there for weekends.

@parados,
Thomas and parados, You guys just forgot what Bush said often "being president is hard work."

People like okie remembered "that," and forgot all the rest.

@cicerone imposter,
Bush's down-home-on-the-farm mentality also was a closet dictator:

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier." Describing what it's like to be governor of Texas.
(Governing Magazine 7/98)

-- From Paul Begala's "Is Our Children Learning?"

"I told all four that there are going to be some times where we don't agree with each other, but that's OK. If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator," Bush joked.

-- CNN.com, December 18, 2000

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it, " [Bush] said.

@Lightwizard,
There were many statements and actions by Bush that left no question as to his kingdom.

Other Presidents spent a lot of time at Camp David and similar places that were not counted as 'vacation'. According to those who have already written current histories, President Bush preferred to go to Crawford for the same kind of working getaway. He met with people there and he conducted much business from there.

Is there a great deal of difference in a 'vacation' at Camp David versus a 'vacation' at Crawford TX?

@Foxfyre,
Fact remains, Foxfyre...George Dumbya Bush took more vacation time than any other president in history....and the record he broke was held by Ronald Reagan.

@Frank Apisa,
By the way...don't get me wrong.

The more those two stayed on vacation and stayed out of the affairs of state...the better for our country.

To bad, in fact, that either ever came to work!

@Frank Apisa,
To be honest, we all know that some of those vacation days were actually work days. The problem lies in the fact that when GW Bush worked, he destroyed our country. E.g., "our economy is fundamentally strong."

That's what the economists you guys are referring to now were telling him.

What economists? Do you mean GW Bush's advisers?

@cicerone imposter,
Basically all economists, including the one's you're counting on now to "save us" from this financial mess that borrowing and spending got us in to, were saying the same thing. They failed to see this crisis coming, and you're putting up trillions of dollars to cover their bets now.

@Foxfyre,
Should we include the 487 days Bush spent at Camp David on top of the 490 he spent at Crawford Fox?

You should check your facts before you try to bring something up Fox.

@maporsche,
Your problem is you keep singing the same tune irregardless of the issues facing our country. As you've admitted on another thread, you do keep contradicting yourself.

FYI, economists also make mistakes; they are not proposing anything that is scientific where evidence can be identified, specified and resolved. The economy is not a petri dish. The economy is always in flux, and nothing is stable.

@parados,
Since you have never been to Camp David, you can be excused for calling it a vacation.
There are always advisors, visiting heads of state, cabinet members, Senators, and any other person that thinks they need to see the POTUS, or that he wants to see there.

So going to Camp David only provides a change of scenery for the POTUS, nothing more.

(And yes, I have been there, for 6 months)

@mysteryman,
Exactly my point MM. And it has been well documented how many of those trips to Crawford also included official visits, conferences, and various other Presidential responsibilities--certainly not all were vacations any more than trips to Camp David were vacations and were rather a change of scenery.
