@cicerone imposter,
The Republican candidate you are considering maybe voting for is going to agree with Okie on 90% of everything he says here. That's why I'm confused when I see you say that you maybe would vote for them; you regularly express strong Liberal opinions here, and what more, you know that the GOP has no plans to solve our current problems. So why would you vote one in?

@cicerone imposter,

Lets hope we have a higher grade of candidates to pick from on both sides this next election cycle.

@Cycloptichorn,
That may be true to some extent, but what's your problem? I'm looking for the original conservative goals of smaller government, less government intrusion into private lives, and greater accountability for all. If that's wrong, you'll have to prove it to me.

Most GOP/tea party active members are extremists; none will ever get my vote. They don't even know how to negotiate for the betterment of our country, and play politics with every issue.

@RABEL222,
Yes, you have criticized Obama. I simply cited revellette because her post was more recent. These righties fail to realize that those who voted for Obama can and do criticize him.

@plainoldme,
POM is a left wing nut that never admits a mistake and always puts the blame on others.

This experiment called Obama is a terrible mistake, yet POM continues to support it.

Insanity seems to be the norm on the left.

Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II were the terrible mistakes. They screwed the country and the economy for a cumulative 20 years. Obama has had two years to try to right two decades of mismanagement. He's done a fairly good job of doing that so far.

@MontereyJack,
Come on MJ, get serious. Are you still going to be blaming Bush 100 years from now?

Conservatives can be hopeful that ci is typical of millions of independents that are waking up to reality.

@okie,
Back in the 1930s, Aldous Huxley wrote Brave New World as a criticism of America. The country, in the grasp of conservatives, has not improved. The effort to make everyone dumb continues.

Laws passed and SC appointees do not last for the duration of a president's term but for years. Another example of okie living only in okieville. Perhaps, bush will have to bear the blame for a century.

Sure. You guys still damn FDR and get all misty-eyed about the decidedly lackluster Ike. Why not?

@MontereyJack,
They also continue to talk about Reagan. It's okay for conservatives to mention past presidents they admire, but whoa to liberals and speaking ill of recent GOP presidents.

They can't see what's wrong with this picture.

Is that the same great Dwight D. Eisenhower that even liberals on this forum have tried to claim was a liberal? At least one or more tried until I posted the magazine article in its entirety - written by Eisenhower in 1964 that was titled: Why I am a Republican."

No one makes that claim, okie. What people say is that by today's standards, eisenhower would be considered a liberal.* That is wholly other than saying he was a liberal. Do you understand? The subtlety of human speech eludes you. I think every contributor to this forum with the exception of H2Oman and ican would agree that there are times when standard speech is neither sufficiently simple nor sufficiently specific enough for you to grasp.

*I believe a few republicans have said that eisenhower would not be electable or that he would not be sufficiently conservative to win the nomination.

Parados, CI, cyclo . . . what do you think? Can you remember such a statement?
