They haven't learned the art of four quarter football yet.

How about sneaking the Sooners into some Texan uniforms Smile Actually, I've been kinda impressed by what the Texans are doing - a little more and they will be good Exclamation

Rainy warm day here in H-Town.

Can't play golf; wife doesn't want to see a movie, so I guess I'll be forced to watch football all afternoon. Rolling Eyes

Longhorns won a thriller yesterday; Baylor covered against OU; Buckeyes held on; LSU looked good spanking 'Bama; University of Houston won its sixth game and will very probably qualify for a bowl.

No real riveting NFL matchups today save the Battle of the Bays.

Cowboys vs. Patsies (Parcells vs. Belichick, Battle of the Bills) tomorrow night ought to be the game of the week.

(edit: corrected some grammar errors)

Those old Dolphin players from 1972's team must be cracking the champagne they have every year when the last NFL team gets its first loss. I really thought KC could go undefeated.

And hey, the Texans won ugly, but no one will remember that past next Wednesday. Smile

Geez, this conference sucks. I can't remember when I've been so happy that the Packers are 5-5.

sozobe, does the name David Whitehurst tell you anything about bad times?

It doesn't, actually. Fill me in!

(The PACKERS are doing well, it's just that it's amazing that they could be considered to be doing well at 5-5 -- only the Vikings are ahead of them, at 6-4, and the Vikes are getting worse while the Packers are ascendant.)

David Whitehurst statistics

I think the Packers were 8-7-1 in the best of the Whitehurst years.
4-10 was a typical year for Green Bay.

And the damn Cowboys had Staubach! Evil or Very Mad

Ah!

This is what I'm talking about... week 11 and the Packers have a fighting chance at 5-5 (Vikings have been steadily bungling their chances):

NFC North

Minnesota 6 4 0 .600 269 233 3-2 3-2 1-2 5-2 3-1 Lost 4
Green Bay 5 5 0 .500 264 223 2-3 3-2 0-1 5-4 3-1 Won 1
Chicago 3 7 0 .300 172 234 3-2 0-5 2-0 1-7 1-3 Lost 2

They played a helluva game against a playoff team. Take some consolation.

If the Texans keep coming along like they are, they well may make the playoffs next year. I'm really encouraged by a lot of the things they do.

Longhorns won. Bengal Tigers won.

I originally targeted attending tomorrow's Texans-Falcons game in order to observe the incomparable Michael Vick, but he's still on the sideleines, healing his ankle. Likewise David Carr (except it's his shoulder). So, I don't think I'll be in the stadium this season.

Weather's too nice in Houston this weekend to be indoors much anyway.

One of these days, I'll get around to starting a thread about college football. For now, ya'll are stuck with me.

Florida State vs. Florida. A tradition for 38 years now. If you caught the pre-game bonanza, you already know what the game is all about.

Yes, it counts towards W/L. And plays a big part in ratings. (Which, as long as I live, will never, ever understand.)

Bragging rights.

For the next 365 days, all of us Gator fans are going to have to muster up the strength to deal with the loss.

Ahem.....have to admit that this is the first game I've ever watched down to the last second. Intense. (It's six a.m., EST, and I'm wide awake.)

Next year.

Watch out 'Noles.
