Would spraying febreeze in my daughter’s hair hurt her?

My daughter dumped perfume over her head at my parent's house. They let her do whatever she wants. The result she stinks. I tried washing it and stuff, but it still stinks today. I sent her to school reeking of the stuff hoping she won't make everyone sick or having them send her home. I even started calling her stinky.

Febreeze supposed to take smells out of things. I read the directions and it says it works on all surfaces. The only warning is to not spray directly in face. Anticipating another evening of headaches because of stink, would you recommend spraying febreeze on her?

have you tried putting massive amounts of baking soda in her hair, and typing her hair up in a scarf overnight a la sozobe to let it do it's work?

I don't know, I just thought of that. Seems it might help.

Febreeze will just make her smell like Febreeze, yuk. Chai suggestion might work, but I would also try a white vinegar rinse.

Great minds think alike GW.

I just found this solution on wikihow...

Your daughter will love this, it makes the odor removal an explosive science project!!

Removing skunk odor from hair and fur

Have you ever combined baking soda and vinegar? It's great fun.

Go dump some baking soda in your sink and follow up with a vinegar chaser...I clean the drain and entertain Roland at the same time.

Best to wash her hair with tomato juice.

Yeah, but I could be criminally charged. I don't think I will try the solution yet as tomorrow my daughter is cared for by the grandparents - that should show them - having to deal with the stink!

Try sprinkling talcum powder or cornstarch on her head and then sentence her to a thousand strokes with the hairbrush.

If she smell remains, assign a thousand more strokes.

The grandparents aren't the only culprits here.

Your daughter, of course.

You could cut her hair off if she doesn't want to do the brushing.

I'm just curious Linkat, what made your daughter do such a silly thing in the first place.

I did tell her that off course - that if the stink doesn't go away, I will need to cut all her hair off.

She will not do that again, I can assure you. We also had to have talks with her about eating too much junk and candy at the grandparents house so she doesn't get sick. She is actually good about that.

And she will not try to cut her own hair again either. Another incident at the grandparents.

Well she wanted to smell good of course. My mom said she could use some perfume and of course being 5, the more the better. So instead of dabbin a little on, she poured it on.
