I'm sitting here listening to some cds I ordered this week... finally got around to it. On July 4th, I was pulling up at a friend's house for a bbq and heard an acapella song by, dammit, an old friend! Anybody heard of Marley's Ghost? Anyway, years ago, 1980 to be exact, I worked on a landuse exhibit for the LA bicentennial, which turned out to be kind of a wackily intense work situation, a mild description. One of the key folks at the beginning of that project was a woman who knew a lot of history, and her son was involved too; he was a local high school history teacher and musician... and one of the memorable days of m'life was hearing he and his buds play fiddle and mandolin and sing their hearts out on the back lawn. OK, so I should call the station and find out title of the piece as I was busy parking and greeting people and trying to listen. But no, I just looked him up and bought a few of the cd's..... a pleasure so far.

More later..

So err, I more or less remember the sequence of events until the zap back in time to Bootsy's concert, and then I kinda lost track of what happened. Can anyone briefly summarize me the main events of the subsequent 200 pages or so?

Alternatively, perhaps I could have a drink?

yes nimh, you can have any drink you would like. But I doubt there's anyone here who can summarize where've we've been since Bootsy's concert. We'd have to remember and no one here is likely to be able to do that.

I did save all the cafe threads last week before Abuzz bit the dust. So if you like, I can forward them to you and you can read up. Better yet, just sit down here with me and the others and have a stiff drink. It's a nice night in New York City. Not too warm, not too cold.......not wet at all. The sky was blue today, but it's just turned dark and I'm looking out from my 19th story window, past my balcony facing downtown. The lights of the city are lovely.

We haven't zapped any where in some time. But it would be fun, I think........got any ideas anyone?

Now, for a little music.........

Field Commander Cohen

I know you need your sleep now
I know your life's been hard
but many men have fallen where you promised to stand guard

I never asked but I heard that you cast your lot with the poor...........

just some grateful painful woman

the patron saint of envy and the grocer of dispair.

Working for the yankee dollar.

I know you need your sleep now
I know your life's been hard

Oh lover, come and lie with me, if my lover is who you really are...........

oh my love, oh, oh, my love
oh my love........oh my love.....................

(violin music)

Now why do you stand by the window?
Abondoned to beautfy and pride
the thorn of the night in your bosom

lost in the rags of remorse
lost in the waves of a sickness
that loosens the high silver ..........

now chosen love......oh darling of angels, demons and saints........and the whole broken hearted

now kiss the cheek of the moon

and leave no word of discomfort
and leave no observer to mourn
but climb on your tears and be silent
like a rose on it's ladder of thorn

Oh darling of angels, demons and saints
and the whole broken hearted host
gentle this soul

the fire give up to the sun
the sun give over to splendor
in the arms of the high holy one
for the holy one dreams of a letter

but chosen love, frozen love
oh tangle of matter and (something)

gentle this soul....................
(gypsy violin again)...................

It's been hot hot hot here, almost 70!!

Sigh, the night is lowering faster. It always seem to do that suddenly to me, a clutch at my heart as I love having light sky in the evening.

Here in vancouver too. Seven thirty and already it is darkened significantly. Days still nice (often the case in september here...lots of tshirts on sunny days) but autumn is aiming at us.

Autumn is probably the most beautiful time here. Very piquant.

Hmm, is piquant one of those adjectives that don't work with very? I think so. It's piquant or it isn't.

And it's my perception of autumn that carries piquance, not autumn that is piquant.

Oh, ne'er mind.

Abuzz
Lola I didn't know that Abuzz had crashed.

Only about a month ago I was in contact with HofT on abuzz on a science thread.

I ask her to give me her reply to this statement:

" As I look you Up and Down
I find you Charm ingly Strange
from Top to Bottom"

I will not give you her reply yet

But I will ask You to give me your reply to the same statement.

BTW what has happen to Cheshire?

And as I am here maybe someone will please furnish me with a Singapore gin Fling.
