Thanks, Lola. Do you know if he sent the backup paperwork to Timber? Any reply or feedback? Wondering whether there's anything else that can be done at my end - pls let me know if there is.

Thinking............let's see, HofT........nice to hear from you. We could try a bull whip, but...............never mind, I fear it wouldn't help, or it wouldn't help in the right way. I'll ask about the paper work for Timber.

Lola - always nice to hear from you, too! Btw, forget bullwhips: I tried nukes and THEY didn't work. Suspect Blatham of counterattacking with Canadian cold fronts, turning Massachusetts into a passable imitation of Siberia.

Please post news here as and when you have any. Thanks!

Water pills? I don't have any, but here's some wonderful reading material from a previous incarnation of Lola's Magical Mystery Cafe:

http://boston.abuzz.com/interaction/s.210894/discussion

Camelot. Note to those who didn't know me back then: my name at the time was N34_W118, my airport's coordinates.

Note to S. for whenever he shows up: the relevant Cafes appear on the first page of my "interactions involved in" - didn't want to overload this Cafe with links. Lola will fill you in on details; thanks for your help!

Anyone with keys to the magic kingdom of Camelot please post here.

Marycat - hope you'll be joining us on this trip, as you weren't on the Cafe's first trip to Camelot I just linked!

Actually - has anyone seen Timber? Without him to provide transportation I don't know if Lola's new Cafe can start on that mission. Maybe Blatham will recover from acute silencitis also, he's the one with the supplies.

As and when Timber does show up: you'll see that in Camelot I the Cafe travelled in a ship; this is a present for you, if you want to volunteer for Camelot II - so incredible I had to check Snopes to make sure it's a real photograph:

Now THATS a near miss and extrodinary picture, Hoft!

Motivation and overcoming obstacles ~ the adept science of creativity~

Follow the Gleam

O YOUNG Mariner,
You from the haven
Under the sea-cliff,
You that are watching
The gray Magician
With eyes of wonder,
I am Merlin,
And I am dying,
I am Merlin
Who follow The Gleam.

Mighty the Wizard
Who found me at sunrise
Sleeping, and woke me
And learn'd me Magic!
Great the Master,
And sweet the Magic,
When over the valley,
In early summers,
Over the mountain,
On human faces,
And all around me,
Moving to melody,
Floated The Gleam.

Once at the croak of a Raven who crost it,
A barbarous people,
Blind to the magic,
And deaf to the melody,
Snarl'd at and cursed me.
A demon vext me,
The light retreated,
The landskip darken'd,
The melody deaden'd,
The Master whisper'd
"Follow The Gleam."

Then to the melody,
Over a wilderness
Gliding, and glancing at
Elf of the woodland,
Gnome of the cavern,
Griffin and Giant,
And dancing of Fairies
In desolate hollows,
And wraiths of the mountain,
And rolling of dragons
By warble of water,
Or cataract music
Of falling torrents,
Flitted The Gleam.

Down from the mountain
And over the level,
And streaming and shining on
Silent river,
Silvery willow,
Pasture and plowland,
Horses and oxen,
Innocent maidens,
Garrulous children,
Homestead and harvest,
Reaper and gleaner,
And rough-ruddy faces
Of lowly labour,
Slided The Gleam.--

George! Great to see you. How's your kid at Tech?

Stradee - thanks so much for the e-mails and particularly for picture of darling wolfie. Will be going away tonight for a few weeks, but will be looking in here for messages. Sorry I'm not replying to your e-mails individually - have to suspend most of the e-mail inboxes before leaving so new messages don't bounce back to the senders. The e-mail address is still good, but forwarding overseas is iffy, so pls wait until I'm back.

I hope that all the great writers of Lola's Cafe will get together to write a new adventure soon!

I met her in a club down in old soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola [lp version:
Coca-cola]
C-o-l-a cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said lola
L-o-l-a lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man
Oh my lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Well we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said dear boy won't you come home with me
Well I'm not the world's most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Well I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said dear boy I'm gonna make you a man

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

Your welcome, Hoft. Received an e mail from photo site and also amazed viewing beautiful wolf pictures. "Alyeska" also sends best regards ~ wishing Godspeed and safe return.

Good news regarding dear bears - New Jersey. Governor McGreevey urging Fish and Game to discontinue 2004 bear hunt due to overwhelming amount of protest letters.

Maryland bear hunt next target for being stopped but comments needed before April 2nd.

Good luck with new venture ~ much success!

Lola and all ~ thanks for your continued support for all our animal buds ~

Hugs n' smooches ~S~

Had lotsa fun with Joe Nation and Frank last Saturday night in New York! Good food and company, followed by a funny evening at the Carlyle Hotel bar with a jazz trio and drinks. We'll do it again soon.

Reaching back to Camelot......

EEEEEEEEEEEEK, finally squeezed in here in spite of laughably slow connection. This is re-posted from a thread where I had promised to send Blatham the book - sorry, couldn't locate it in the boxes I unpacked so far.... Anyway, here's the message again:
__________________________________________

"My Lords, if you would hear a high tale of love and death.."

[Opening sentence, Joseph Bedier, The Romance of Tristan and Iseult, translated by Hilaire Belloc, London 1913.]

"Habet acht! Habet acht!
Schon weicht dem Tag die Nacht!"

[Transl. : Have a care! Have a care! Now night gives way to day! Wagner, Tristan und Isolde, Act II]

Finally on this list (and yes, I will mail the book to Blatham!) a passage from Gottfried of Strasbourg's Tristan:

"Love haunts the deserts.
The road that leads to its retreat
Is a hard and toilsome road."

Btw, the book is "Love in the Western World" by Denis de Rougemont, 1956 edition.

Thanks!
