Why, thank you Stradee.

evening in the afternoon
love without the bitterness and so
good-night."

And so the ladies have ascended to their bedchambers and Hiama is left with the solace of the embers in the fire. a balloon glass of brandy for comfort and starts to pen some poetry:-

Even if after this time
We can not manage to talk
Let our eyes meet briefly
Across the room
And seeking nothing else
I slip into a warm embrace of
Deep and wonderful dreams....

Seeing Hiama dozing peacefully by the fire, Eva notices the journal has slipped from his grasp and is lying face-down on the rug next to the sofa. She picks it up and reads the lovely poem. It is almost too much, she thinks...all those muscles and the heart of a poet, too. She brushes Hiama's cheek with a soft kiss, then tucks an extra blanket around him. Sweet dreams, my dear......

Lets all have a nice glass of bubbly to celebrate G's rise to the V_P suite.

Wassau gently knocks on Stradee's door...

"Stradee, there's hot coffee and breakfast waiting for ya".

"Thanks, Wassau, be there in a few minutes" says Stradee as she recalls dreaming about Unicorns, Airplanes, and journels.

Must've been the pasta from last evenings dinner Smile

"Hi hiama and Gautam. Let's celebrate G's promotion, but if you don't mind, I'll give a toast with coffee instead of the bubbly."

Dear G ~ With hard work and determination, you have done it!
Well done, and well deserved!

Stradee plants a smooch on G's cheek careful not to muss a perfectly couffed doo, whispering quietly ~ "your aftershave to die for" smiles and all click glasses for Gautam's continued success.

Lola leads Gautum to the easy chair beside the fireplace. It's cold outside and everyone's arriving in heavy coats. Lola rubs Gautum's shoulders.......she doesn't want him to feel unwelcome or deprived. She smiles at Danon and tells him she's missed him lately.

Wassau brings HIAMA a frozen hot chocolate.

Lola looks up and sees two men arriving, just inside the big black oak door. They're carrying a little carrying case.

1st man:
(In a deep voice and gruff manner)
Is there a Mr. Wassau? He here?

Wassau:
(stopping his work and looking over his glasses)
Wattayaneed?

2nd man:
We found these two scurrying around the White House. They say they live here. Is that right?

(sticking long, big nose up to the screen of cage)
See, little Maxine, we got you home safe, just like we told ya.

(leaning over, placing cage on the floor and opening door)
There ya go, little Malcolm, come on out, you're all safe now.

(looking back at Wassau)
He was a little worried there.

Slowly, Malcolm staggers out of the cage, looking as if he's been beaten until he squealed (as only little sweet mice can do.)

Lola reaches down and scoops Malcolm into her hand and holds him close to her chest.

Lola:
What's happened to you?.....................

Awww, poor Maxine and Malcom

"Were you two little meesies being held at the White House"? Stradee askes as she prepares a warm bath and and small vial of anti-biotics for the little travelers.

Can't be to careful - after all, they running around the West Wing and all, we can only guess what they may've contracted.

Maxine jumps up on the cafe counter, gives hiama a smile and wink, thanks Stradee, and happily receives treats from dear Wassau.

"Rats is right!" says Maxine, hugging Malcolm in an attempt to comfort him.

"The rats were huge!" says Maxine, eyes wide with excitement.

Malcolm leans, comforted against her and says, "I think we should retire to our little hole in the wall home, where the light is inviting, the furniture soft and the music good. I fear Mr. Cheshire may be about".............

As usual Malcolm is way off out in left field when it comes to exactly what makes Maxine hum.

"Maxine, - - - You stay there with Malcolm and the rat thing will be taken care of."
said Danon the Exterminator.

"Oh no, Danon...........the exterminator.......wait!" cries Malcolm. "We're mice, you see, smaller and easier to exterminate than rats. We'll be fine, really we will. Anyway the rats are at the White House................."

And, danon sez, "Is that the Rat to which we are referring?"
That rat was joined by Daddy in the Air National Guard to protect our nation from - - - whatever - - - in the '60's, and, guess what?????? He didn't even show up for his regularly scheduled week-end meetings.. (that's a period!!!)
While ten of my friends became KIA in Vietnam - 1969-70.
