Stradee,

A very old person - in our time - by the name Sun Tsu, said, 'Our battles are won or lost before they are fought'

What he actually meant by that saying is: That everything we do in life is 90 per cent planning and only 10 per cent execution.

Or, if you plan well, you may succeed.

Or, less is more.

Or,

Ah, whatever...............

Danon, ya know, I saw a documentary about lightening bolts jumping (?)
or emitting from the ground. Amazing, huh?

When first moving to the Sierra's and witnessing the winter thunder and lightening storms - I was amazed! Still am.

Life happens, Danon.

Planning is great, but we're guaranteed nothing.

More or less..........

Stradee,

I must be more clear on the earlier Sun Tzu quote. The actual one translates to : "Now the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought. "

Anyway, isn't nature the most amazing thing on earth.?? I, having flown airplanes in the worst weather have noticed some unusual events. I've been surrounded by St. Elmo's Fire and wondered about it. Fascinating to say the least. I've seen twin rainbows, one within the other, and all complete circles. I flew through rain drops on a clear day, which formed over a fire in the jungle. I flew next to my friend who had received a bullet and became hysterical. I regularly flew around US Army base camps to draw fire so the good guys would know where the enemy was just before dark. The tracers would come softly, slowly, mesmerizingly, fascinatingly and then move swiftly past into nowhere. Not many hit my airplane, the ones that did sounded like dull ticks.

Danon, thanks for the clarification.

Nature is wonderful, I agree. Flying over San Francisco at dusk, with a billow of white clowds below the plane, clear blue skies above, and the setting sun. Amazing color and clarity. Thunder and lightening in the mountains, rain and wind - vexed toward a plateau from a tower bleep,
short field approach - then quiet. Gear down, wheels safely on the tarmac, hearts begin beating again.
Not as scary as being shot at - but mother nature's missiles barely miss - we were spared for another day. Flying quetly over the Delta, looking left and seeing a pair of wheels gliding toward the plane. Diving right and straight toward the water. In less than one minute, the calmness and acceptance of death, then miraculously - recovery.

Blinding sunsets, rainstorms, clear nights when it seemed the earth was moving and the plane was somehow suspended in mid air - another dimension seemingly. Then a gust of wind first lifting then dropping the plane sideways a few hundred feet in about a second, knowing there wasn't a damned thing I could do except ride it out - then adapt.

As for the best leaders, the people do not notice their existence. The next best, the people honour and praise. The next, the people fear; and the next, the people hate. When the best leader's work is done, the people say, 'we did it ourselves.' - Lao Tzu

Hi Osso, welcome.........how're ya doin, girl? Glad to hear your surgery turned out to be ok afterall. We spent some time worrying about you a bit. A2k is becoming a legitimate family.

Great pics of the lightening, Stradee. And yes to being upset by the rats. But we shall over come, won't we Max and Malcolm?

Danon, your experiences sound fascinating. You're brave and I'm proud to know you've served us with such courage. I like to stay on the ground and think, myself.

Wassau, could I have a nighttime drink. I'm feeling a little pueny.........bad cold. But I'm happy still. Very very happy. Wassau old friend.........life can be good, very good, if you let it be.

Hi, Lola and Stradee.

Well, I am still undergoing various levels of excremental strata, and actually asked for an a2k wail an hour or so ago, but am nothing if not quick at picking up my trails of despond so's that no one will notice.

Okay, accomodate me please, for wishes for vision, for all of us.

Do I have to go up to the bar and order a Moca Frap, or can I get waited on over here...?

Just followed the lady with the kaleidoscope eyes into this place... (no cracks about the flirted-with-blind leading the blind, please)
