A quite interesting decoration below the roofs of those (normal) houses, I think

This last set was gorgeous! I'd have to do some relaxation before entering that tunnel!

That 'tunnel', btw, is the "Rue Obscure", 130 meters long, from the 13th century, and was used as town wall as well as shelter against canon balls etc.

Actually, I didn't want to go there on that Saturday evening.

But I hadn't bought any souvenirs for Mrs Walter, remebered early enough that shops were closed on Sunday, close at 7PM in the evening and that special shop didn't open on Monday morning (my plane left noonish).

So I went there (early enough) and suddenly (= no time to get the flash out of the bag, and that tiny flash on the camera is useless in such situations), and suddenly ...

This (= the actual last) weekend the carnaval starts in Nice, very famous, lasting two weeks.
But a week before the oficial opening (that's the weekend I've been there), some activities already in smaller towns and villages around Nice.
And in Nice itself, independent groups have their festivities.

Like this one.

Oh, and on this pic you clearly can see that the tram is passing the square "cableless", on battery

And this a shot out of my window, taken on Sunday February 10, 08:58:44 hours, just before I went to get my breakfast ...

I love lowering light photos, Walter, and they're just the ones I can rarely take myself, since I shouldn't be out driving then, or when I'm with other people as the drivers, I rarely have my camera with me. To me, that light is a feast of beauty and, since I trip in it, a feast of danger - something exquisite, all things considered.

Great photos, Walter. I love the use of varying light.

You make me feel quite guilty - almost a year since my month in Italy, and still no photos shown! Perhaps I'll work on it, and the Penny shots, this weekend!

Cannes.

On the first view - just another French town, with some people doing their (food) shopping on a Sunday morning ...

... and an art market infront of a typical town hall, with the oblicatory fortification and church up a hill

But when you go up that hill ...

http://i25.tinypic.com/2yw8e50.jpg

... you'll get a phantastic view over the town, the festival hall and the bay (and the two small islands, the Îles de Lérins)

We'll look at those buildings a little later more detailed
